I don't know if there's a thread for naming plants but is this a Hebe? it just appeared under the fence and now it's about 7ft tall

It looks to me like a Spiraea possibly S.billardii...not sure though.

Yes, it's a Spiraea. My Mum has one of these. Quite nice in flower but not much else to recommend it and it spreads by suckers. Bet there's one (or was one) the other side of the fence!

Thanks RF and Ruth, the bees seem to like it.

Looks like one of the late flowering Spiraeas Barbara. They take a good hard pruning even back to ground level in early spring or you can just trim back to a main framework of stems. They can be quite invasive if left and as Ruthie said they spread. I shared mine with next door until it got the chop, saying that there are a few bits still growing but it is behind the summer house now.

Thanks Chuckles, I thought I might take some cuttings for the gardens at the bowling green.

Thanks Chuckles, I thought I might take some cuttings for the gardens at the bowling green. Great idea Barbara, if I recall it roots quite easily. I have a vague recollection of stems rooting in just water
