Planning is underway for next year so i really need to know what i'm going to grow and how. We love all spuds in chez Andy but roasts, new and jacket are probably consumed the most.
But im a bit confused to what i need to grow....earlies ?, lates? mid season ? salad ?
Most of the potatoes will be grown in tubs or sacks and i suppose the most popular will be new potatoes as they'll be grown in the middle of summer.
So are there any varieties you'd recommend ? any websites where i can have a good read ?
Any suggestions or help will be very welcome
Andy

I think that others are far better at answering but I planted mine in tubs on April 2nd and the 100 days for earlies were up on July 13th.
I started using them them but I still have 6 big tubs full of spuds and up to now they were fantastic.
So I have successfully kept all my earlies for far later.
All I know is that is is well worth growing your own spuds.

Grew potatoes for the first time this year and was amazed with the Earlies. Chose Swift (just pot luck at the GC) and grew them in huge bits of old pipe. It worked well and will do it next year. It's great wandering down the garden and just digging up the spuds you need for supper

We have just harvested our 'Pink Fir' potatoes at work. It's the first time I've grown them and they are delicious! A bit of a pain to peel or scrub as they are all knobbly but the taste is well worth the effort. I love 'Charlotte' potatoes too - they are second earlies I think but last for ages in the soil and get to a huge size too.

I agree with you there on the Charlotte 4P they are a lovely taste and do last for ages in the soil. This year mine have been awful but I did neglect them a lot earlier when they needed topping up and I didnt grow Charlotte this time but I will be getting them for next year, thought I would try the International Kidney as well.
