Does anyone else grow them, and if you do, do yours lean over all the time, or have I done something wrong, like not planting them deep enough, any ideas please as to why.

I also have grown Japanese Anemonese (White and Pink ones) and have had no problems with them. It would be interesting to know why yours 'lean' to one side. Perhaps they are in the wrong position? They do not like being disturbed and take a season to flower again after moving them.

Those I have in pots stay quite small, Jenny and Biggs, those in the ground are the leaners and badly this year. my camera is broken so I can't even show you. I can't say its the positioning because they are all leaning in different directions, not all leaning to the sun so to speak.

I wouldn't mind if mine leaned but they just don't grow. I've tried a few times before but this is definately the last time. Half the plant has died already, it is in a semi shaded spot with enough moisture at the roots. If the whole plant dies that's it, no more. Most other things in the border grow like weeds

Right, I sorted the camera out, it was the battery. I don't know if it's obvious in the pics. but they are actually at 45 degrees.

They look normal to me Barbara, well normal considering the fence behind them. They look like they are drawing away from the fence and towards the light, mine do the same and if you've had the wind whipping about that will make them go in different directions too. Japanese Anemones have long tap roots so should anchor themselves in well but if you think the base of the plant isn't planted deep enough you could always pile a mulch of soil around the base maybe. As for height, different varieties grow to different heights and pot grown plants don't seem to grow as tall. I have some really tall pink ones that grow to 5ft plus, don't know the variety but they take over the garden if your'e not careful. Then I have some white ones that reach about 3' the name 'Honorine Jobert' springs to mind. Also have a double pink variety that I got from a friends garden, it is in pot waiting to be planted out. I have found that the shorter varieties seem to take longer to get established, not sure if thats a general fact or whether it's just my soil/planting conditions. They had an amazing border of white anemones at Ryton Organic gardens

They look beautiful Barbara - I dont have anyway near as many as you and yes it is correct what Chuckles says about the fence
My Lavatera strains away from the fence - mine is like yours Barbara - and at the same angle too

I have 2 types Queen Charlotte and I think the other is Tomentosa, I have them planted in the middle of the garden as well, not near a fence, and they lean as well, some nearly to the floor.
