I dont think seasons are the same any more Biggs. Lots of berries used to mean a bad winter but we have wetter summers and drier winters now. For the last 4 years i have still been mowing my lawn in december. Its a nice thread and more photos of berries would be nice.

No pics but there are loads of Sloes in our hedgerows this year (hardly any last year). It's also a good year for wild rose hips but my secret Blackberry patch is rather disappointing. I may even have to join the people who come from the City to pick them along our road!

Thanks LG--Its nice to be back--I have missed the Board but hope to get on a little more often now.-- Tig--I think the birds are having a great time this year--There is still loads of 'food' in the gardens yet and then they have this feast to look forward to come the Winter months. Snowy--I think you are right when you say the Seasons seem to be Topsy-Turvy now--but we best not complain--you never know--we are due for a Harsh Winter soon!! Any photographs of Autumn Berries?

Hi Bigs nice to see you back Gosh lovely berries there. They say the trees made loads of flowers last year instead of leaves so it is last summer that caused this years berries if I am right and therefore the loads of berries can not be the sign of a hard winter....... Just being slightly optimistic here although I do like a good strong winter

Looking at these photographs --we all seem to be having a good display of Autumn colour (Berries). Dutchy--I too love a lovely crisp Winter- I think it helps to 'get rid of' alot of 'nasties' in the garden such as Greenflies. Isabella--Those Callicarpa Berries are beautiful--I love the colour-- Jenny--Have you got any Autumn Berries yet?--Dont forget to photograph them! Jasmine--I have noticed our Maple and Holly Trees are loaded with Berries aswell. Jilly--Your photographs are good aswell--What is the name of the second Bush?It seems to have more berries than leaves now--Lovely--Bigs

Thanks Biggles it's actually more hips than berries, it's a wild rose growing through a Cotoneaster, the lack of leaf is due to wind burn & rampant blackspot I'm afraid . This is such a great thread, I love autumn berries, I wish I had more, Isabella your Callicarpa is beautiful. Jillyx

I must have missed something, the sarcococca really has managed to confusa me, how did it get berries when I never spotted the flowers open! x Tig I'm not absolutely sure about this i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd161/GWDAdmin1/Smilies/Default/undecided.gif but mine seems to carry immature green berries all the time & they only seem to ripen the year after they flower . They're lovely though . Jillyx

Perhaps that is why I didn't see the flowers then Jilly! It has only lived with me since this year and if they were green I probably just didn't see them! Thanks for that And for the nominations! x Tig
