I have been given a selection of dried beans, the ones right and centre looked like runner beans, the others on the left were more rounded pods .. any ideas what types they are? Tig

I don't know if this site is of any use, Tig. It's a bit bewildering (for me anyway! ) But it might help if no one knows which beans are which: www.nenno.it/Beanseedimages/browseimages.phpActually I have decided I can't make head nor tail of it...it might not be any help at all.....sigh............. I think the left hand ones are Runner Beans, the middle might be Cherokee Trail of Tears beans (just like the name) but I can't remember name of the right hand ones but I have seen them before...sorry...

Thanks 4P that is a useful link .. a friend has suggested the dark ones could be Enorma .. and the mottled right group Liberty (both runners) Suggested that the ones on the left could possibly be borlotto? Guess I will have some surprises next year ;D

The one on the left looks like runners, Painted Lady beans. I have those and all of a sudden have some that cough up black beans instead of the white-brown with dark brown markings. Maybe Painted Lady and Enorma or Cherokee Trail of Tears are related and one sometimes decides to become the other?
Those pinkpurple ones do look pretty don't they.

Me again I have just been on the net and found more info on the black ones they could indeed be the trail of tears ones. I will sow just my black ones next year and if they turn out pink flowered I will consider them to be the CTofT. ;D Are you confused yet

;D I will put my money on them all having red flowers - I don't recall seeing any pink flowers on my neighbours beans this year.
