I've never been a betting man and never been in a betting shop in my life despite having had two grandads who loved a flutter. But last saturday, myself, wife, daughter and student, plus 2 mates and their wives trundled along to Fontwell near Chichester to watch the races. now i wouldn't know what end of a horse to bet on so me and my 11 year old daughter katie set about picking some nags. First race we both back a horse each way (i didn't realise that if you pay £2.50 each way, it costs you a fiver !!!!). Daughters horse comes in second and wins her £6.75 !!!! i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd161/GWDAdmin1/Smilies/Default/angry.gif Second race, we do the same and her horse wins....£29.00 i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd161/GWDAdmin1/Smilies/Default/angry.gif i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd161/GWDAdmin1/Smilies/Default/angry.gif We missed a race or two but then started to bet on just winners. No luck for one race but then we put £2.50 on a horse to win and it did....£27.50...which was mine i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd161/GWDAdmin1/Smilies/Default/grin.gif So all in all, Katies was about £35 up and i was even after deducting the stake money. We had a damn good day and i'll certainly go again....maybe Brighton or Plumpton as they're just round the corner. The day was finnished on a big high as the Levellers were playing live afterwards and they were just awesome.

Well done to your girl, glad you had a good day, we went to haydock once and had a good time, and we only broke even.

I don't bet very often coz I can't afford it. However, I do like a flutter now and again, although I tend to bet more on the dogs than the horses.
Sounds like a good day though mate. Top band The Lev's. I saw them live at Ipswich a few years back. Manic night but brilliant.
