I have a black Grape which has been in a big pot for several years. It had about a dozen little bunches of fruit on them for the first year or two but they were so sour we couldn't eat them - I specifically bought this one because it said they were dessert grapes too! I can't find the label though - sorry... Last Spring I popped it into the ground at the top of the veggie garden to train along my new fence but it's been so dry here this year I don't think it's grown much this season. It's still alive though so I'll shove a big dollop of goat muck under this Autumn and hope for better things next year....

Hi Chuckles we have a black Hamburg grape vine which is growing in the GH and has been doing for 25yrs + we have had lots of grapes off it but over the years some of the bunches have gone mouldy. I saw a tip about cutting off the none fruiting runners in OM's tip of the day so this year I cut them all off, none of the bunches have been mouldy this year thanks to this tip. Its a nice sweet grape but I dont know if you can still get it. When there are no bunches left to pick it it cut back straight to the old wood and just left to its own devices, as for watering it just gets the odd bucket when I remember to do it.

Wow that is an old one ;D I wonder how big it is? ? mine is in a 8x6 GH and it has to be cut back to keep it indoors the grapes have been wonderful this year, very sweet I would say its been the best year since I moved here 26years ago, but I only started looking after it the back end of last year and I know nobody has ever fed it till I did this year. If the door is open the chucks are in there having a dust bath near the main stem. I am going to put lots of muck on it and the contents of a couple of gro-bags this Winter.
