Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere. Please does anyone know if it is ok to plant small raspberry plants out now or is it best to overwinter them somewhere like a greenhouse. I have 6 Autumn Bliss plants, they are about 10" tall and their stems are all new soft growth. I could plant them up at the lottie now but didn't know if it was better to give them a more sheltered start. They are outdoors at the moment. Thank you i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd161/GWDAdmin1/Smilies/Default/smiley.gif

I was reading my 'prize' book again last night (Bob Flowerdews - Going Organic just in case anyone missed BIS results ;D) and he said raspberries are a bit thuggish once they get going, throwing suckers up all over the place. My neighbour has got a very healthy established row and I've never spotted any stray runners?

I'd heard about raspberries throwing up suckers Tig. I just thought I would just give them enough space to get on with that if necessary up at the lottie.

Glad you brought this up Jasmine I've got Autumn Bliss in 2 tubs and was thinking of planting them in the garden and debating when to do it. I've had them in the tubs just for this year and despite them fruiting really the general opinon on the Container Board was they do ok for a couple of years but do better in the ground. Must find a good spot for them in the garden now

I got 6 more from the reduced corner at the w/e. 1 is looking a little sorry for itself but we should have a good row of raspberries up at the lottie now. Good luck with yours Chuckles.
