Not gro-bags, but the plastic ones that you buy for growing taters and similar in. I had 2 sorts this year, 3 sturdy potato bags from Wilkinsons and a set of 3 of varying size from homebase. The former being better quality as well as the less expensive of the two.
They were easy to use, especially with taters...made earthing up easy.
BUT
I've not been impressed with the quality of produce that I've grown in the bags (taters, carrots, peppers, beetroot, carrots and spring onions) when compared directly with the same type of produce grown either in the veg patch directy or in 'conventional' pots.
I don't know why this is...anybody else used them?

Do you mean they've been weaker/ smaller/ less tasty CPB? Have'nt used them myself CPB but most things that I grow in pots are smaller than those grown in the ground I think, could be just the same with growing in bags. Might it just be that the compost in the bags has less nutrients and is watered less than those in the ground? I think Rf grows in bags perhaps she will know more.

perhaps the soil is more compact in the grow bags after successive waterings?? I would think that it would be regardless of the soil type.

I've never grown in bags before so can't really shine any light on it for you Cheery. Purplejulia used quite a few bags this year for various veggies.
