I hope my friends on here are having a good Christmas. i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd161/GWDAdmin1/Smilies/Default/smiley.gif I only put in the names I knew about from memory who definitely were gardeners. Congratulations to Juliet, and thank you for your kind words folks. Eldest son is staying here for a couple of days, and wanted to go on t'internet, otherwise I wouldn't have logged on, but was curious to see how many there actually were. Best wishes for 2010. Yakkers.

Don't be daft Juliet! The quizzes are for the amusement of all members, and you have won because of your knowledge of gardeners and your ability to find them in that maze of names without going cross-eyed ;D Everyone was staring at the same wordsearch - just couldn't see the wood for the trees x Tig

I agree with Tig Juliet, it's actually great to know that there are such clever folk on the boards, you both did so very well to be able to find and know so many Gardener's names. It's only a bit of fun after all. ;D

Thank you for your congratulations, everyone! I am amazed to have got more than Yakram, as I know she's even more of a gardening book addict than I am - you must have been having an off-day, Yakkers! I did notice Brooks, but didn't submit it in my list because John Brookes has an "e" - I didn't realise there was a Richard as well I'm glad to discover the others I didn't get were ones I hadn't heard of either - will have to look them up! Hi Juliet (& the rest of our friends). If I was to make an excuse or two - one was persistent distraction by 11 & 13 yr old grandsons constantly needing feeding, the other is that as you know I usually only collect old gardening books, not new ones, although I have signed volumes by Arthur Billitt and Percy Thrower, including an AB book signed by PT : work that one out. i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd161/GWDAdmin1/Smilies/Default/huh.gif The only Charles Barry I know is the architect who designed the Houses of Parliament; I didn't know he started the All Party Gardening Group there. i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd161/GWDAdmin1/Smilies/Default/grin.gif I hesitated about John Brookes as well. I did put in Lawrence Hill who was the founder of HDRA. I also added Adrian and Jason Bloom to Alan's name, as they are part of the dynasty. I got a couple of first names wrong, but I have no idea who Richard Brooks, P Allen Smith, Tim Smith and Miranda Smith are. Mr Youd is in a specialist field of his own. Anyway, enough of this Hogmanay Rambling; Juliet is a worthy winner, and everyone else are good sports for taking part. Thanks to the Admin team for a great quiz once again. I look forward to a Valentine one, and maybe an Easter one? i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd161/GWDAdmin1/Smilies/Default/cool.gif With all good wishes for a splendid gardening year in 2010. Thank you! Tig & LG - that's very nice of you both (who said I didn't go cross-eyed, Tig?! ), but I could have the fun of doing the wordsearches without actually entering my results - I just feel I've won enough prizes, especially as I don't have as much time as I'd like to spend on GWD anyway, so it seems a bit cheeky to keep popping in and winning things. Perhaps I'll enter some of the other competitions - the ones I find more difficult - instead Yakkers - Charles Barry was one of the ones I missed too, along with Ken Burras, Syliva Crowe, and Sam Youd. Just been looking them up - here are Charles Barry and Richard Brooks for you: www.gardenvisit.com/biography/sir_charles_barrywww.moose.net.uk/examples/gardendesign/I presume you actually know Sam Youd!
