Haven't got round to it yet, but I probably will have a go. When it's a bit warmer though.

I thought instead of a tap you can also have a green man's head on top mouth open and well sort of leaking or anything that takes your fancy. Like at Halloween red dye added and I don't really want to know what you could come up with on top. Or another colour added and something to go with it. A rose leaking pink, a Lilly with orange or a fake pot of honey leaking milky stuff with land of Milk and Honey written on. Gosh plenty of possibilities. I wonder which one in the end you will build once the weather is plus 20*C again.

Now you've got me thinking Dutchy! As I'm a big rose fan, that might be possible. I think I'll look around and see what is available; some kind of model or ornament that can be adapted perhaps.

;D My sincere apologies Rony. But you do have the rest of the winter to think about it. Hey you could end up as the funny novelty water feature builder and seller. And it will be my fault sorry.

;D That would be a novelty! Seriously though, I like to keep my brain active. In this cold weather, I'm often at my computer, making plans and sketches, developing ideas, etc. Not all of them get done, of course, but some do.

;D Good time for firing up the grey cells eh? And I suppose you could try and make a miniature indoor novelty water feature. Maybe using something as frilly as champagne .... coloured fizzy water ;D

Talking of champagne, I won a raffle at work spending just 50p for one ticket. Some had bought 10 tickets or so, as the champagne prize was quite good, so I was very lucky! I popped into our local off licence to see what the bottle would have cost. £38! It didn't last long either! ;D

;D See now you have to build one if only to tease the friends from work

Dutchy, had forgotten about this. You can actually buy them ready made, problem is they run off the mains. I couldn't do that here.

Nah besides this out of nowhere water is too much isn't it? How long before the novelty wears off. Mind you running that on Champagne would be too expensive. And you get tramps licking your fountain... YIKES.

Harrr. Gnomes at times are just mini-tramps. A nuisance and when do they clean up? Never. so,... Sometimes one must jump up and down on them....

Yes and it recycles the water. I didn't like the idea of stagnant water so I have my eye on one of these. I thought about getting one that can be attached to the deck. It would remind me to add fresh water when watering the plants. I that a deck or close by bird feeder too would put things in the same general area.

Sounds good, blc, and I've always wanted a water feature but been put off by the need for a power supply. Solar seems a good idea if it's powerful enough. Will have to do some research.

There are also Solar Powered Bird Bath Fountain Pumps. I know this Amazon US, but they probably have similar for Amazon UK www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Dlawngarden&field-keywords=solar+fountain+for+bird+bath&rh=n%3A2972638011%2Ck%3Asolar+fountain+for+bird+bathYou can set it in any bird bath to create a fountain. You just need for it to be deep enough.

Essential in our climate I think, to have battery back up. I couldn't find one suitable so have opted for the next best thing, and will adapt it if necessary. Have read taht it's better to leave off the spray nozzle and have the water bubbling rather than spraying as it doesn't then put off the birds. Also might reduce flow of water cascading down by blocking bottom half of each outlet with a pebble. Not cheap but reasonable as it should last. www.waterfeatures2go.co.uk/solar-granite-cascading-bowls-water-feature-0639767160599.html

Just been thinking about it Ron, and it is already on a pedestal isn't it. On the other hand the cats would have easy prey - again though my bird baths are on the ground and nothing has ever happened. They are in the open though and not surrounded by bushy plants that a cat could hide... I saw the bird link - my birds fly up to the fencing and dry off there - very often by the look of the sh** marks on the ground!!
