I got the boys some new clothes in the Next sale and myself some new boots fron Schuh. I also got a new kettle as our old one had begun to boil itself whenever it felt like it which was a bit worrying. I also got a few bits and bobs from the Lakeland sale. Oh, I got a runner for the hall from the Next sale too. The best bit is that I got it all on-line. i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd161/GWDAdmin1/Smilies/Default/smiley.gif

I like the on-line sales - no parking hassel and no queues. Sometimes the site slows down especially when Next first starts its sale. White Stuff is the same - weight of users I guess.
I like the sound of your new coat Jen - my sister got herself a pink coat in the Boden sale.

Havn't even thought about it yet, to be honest. We're after a new telly so I'll be looking online this week before the VAT goes back up to 17½% on 1 Jan !

I did really well in NEXT sale, bought tons of clothes for the Grandchildren and some gifts for friends who've recently had new babies. Saved an absolute fortune and went at the right time so there was'nt much of a que. Went to M&S sale yesterday, hey ho you should have seen the amount of clothes that people were buying, whole new wardrobes from the looks of things. I bought myself a new pair of glove shoes for work, half price and badly needed, got all 4 grandchildren some more clothes. (Can't have them running out of new things to wear :

I just got a new iron and a new toaster in the Sainsburys sale. Our toaster gave up the ghost this morning and the iron was on its last legs as Bonnie had got tangled in the cord and pulled it off the ironing board - luckily it missed her and my feet. Got free next day delivery too.

I ordered the toaster and iron about 4p.m. this afternoon and I've just had an email to say they've been dispatched - should be here tomorrow. Why can't all companies do deliveries like that?

Do you have to stay in all day Jasmine for the delivery or do they give an approx time

No Jen, most of the delivery companies know us and will sign for us and our postie does too - otherwise we would have to trek miles to 'local' depots or they have to come out again which I guess they don't want to do. I was surprised when things started being left but I'm very pleased they do it.

If there's somewhere safe to leave things that I don't see a problem with it. The lady who does home courier for Next and Boden leaves things in the shed with a little note through the door and I leave returns in the shed and she puts the receipt sticker on the tumble dryer. It works very well ;D You did well with your oven and hob and you beat the VAT raise Jen.

You guys reminded me that the VAT will be going up again so I went onto amazon and managed to get a twin DVD player for Jenny's girls to watch in the car. I've been thinking of buying it for ages and the one I chose got good reviews. Well done on getting your oven before the increase JW. Jasmine, that's a great system you have with your postie.

What a great idea LG - they will get hours of fun out of that and their Mum and Dad will have lots of quiet journeys interspersed with being bellowed at because of the headphones and the girls not knowing how loudly they are talking ;D We had a people carrier with a built in dvd system which the boys really enjoyed.

The thing that clinched it for me is that Ruth has them in the range rover for her boys and she says they're great for long journeys. Jenny's journey to me is over 4 hours and she's been up and down so much this year with everything that's been happening. A little treat to say thanks to them and I know Hannah in particular will love it.
