As some people may have noticed it has been snowing rather a lot just lately and so we thought; Why not have a Best Snowman competition? This just for the fun of it but no doubt you have all been itching for an excuse to build one so now you have it. i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd161/GWDAdmin1/Smilies/Default/grin.gif So get building, take a photo and post it here and then we will have a poll to pick the best one. Also if anyone has any techniques they would like to share please feel free to post those too, as I for one seem to have forgotten how to do it. i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd161/GWDAdmin1/Smilies/Default/rolleyes.gif Sadly despite having a surplus of raw materials up here in the northern hemisphere, we are unable to supply those unlucky enough to be sweltering in the south so you will just have to improvise. i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd161/GWDAdmin1/Smilies/Default/grin.gif When is the closing date you ask? Well according to the gloom merchants it looks like we could probably make this a monthly event running into March but I think midnight UK time on Sunday 17th January 2010 should allow ample time.

Going out later to sort out Sid and will then post a piccie. He has lost his shape a bit (and his face) because of the snow we've had since he was built.

I forgot the technique tips. I find it best to find 2 small boys who like snow to do the snowball rolling and then I find the gloves, hat, scarf and bits for the face. Most important bit - once finished it's all back indoors for hot choccie with whipped cream and chocolate sprinkles i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd161/GWDAdmin1/Smilies/Default/cheesy.gif

Thank you Tig. We've just walked Bonnie - it is bitter out there. Don't think I would even have got 2 snow loving small boys to make a snowman today.

Sid looks very pleased with himself Jasmine. It's good to see that he has dressed for the cold weather. i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd161/GWDAdmin1/Smilies/Default/grin.gif I've realised now where I went wrong yesterday. Think big not small! Yesterday I started with just a snowball and lost interest after only doubling the size after ten minutes. Then last night I remembered that as kids we started the base by pulling a load of snow together and jumping up and down on it before rolling that around to pick up new snow. If it ever stops snowing for more than 20 minutes at a time today I will have another go. i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd161/GWDAdmin1/Smilies/Default/grin.gif

...and don't make your head snowball too big and heavy otherwise you won't be able to lift it into place.
Thanks Spru. Sid actually has a bit of a lean on him. It looks like he's on the way back from a good night out ;D

Well, to put it in artistic terms, I have my canvas and paints set out and I am just waiting for that spark of inspiration and then I will be off. Or in other words. I can haz the darts on.
