On my oven the grill stops working if the door is shut - this is a safety feature on mine - yours might be the same

My oven was already here when I moved in so I don't have any instructions but I think that you are supposed to leave the door open when the grill is on....I do anyway otherwise it tends to 'smoke'

We recently had a new oven too, a Neff. The instructions advise to close the door when grilling, which is the opposite to our previous oven.

You have to leave the grill door open. If you close it the safety cut off turns it off. It's pretty slow to grill things too. I like the rest of the oven though, both ovens have the safety cut off so if the flame gets blown out or something the gas turns off, and they're self cleaning too ;D

Had a brief look at the manual (downloadable from website) for a Samsung BT621VDST (don't know which model yours is) and it says in there that the oven door should be closed when cooking, which I would interpret as meaning any cooking, including grilling.

On every oven I have had where the grill is situated inside the over, you must leave the door open when grilling. A test though close the door and see what happens

With my grill inside the oven it says to use with the door closed too. There is some kind of extractor thingy in it which takes away the smoke but it only works when the door is closed. With my last oven and grill I had to leave the door open or it would fill up with smoke when grilling bacon.

No I didnt Auricula and cant understand the controls either - there are so many - buttons for cook at the top, cook at the bottom, cook in the middle - head whizzing There is a pull out "baking shelf" - do you leave it in or take it out when cooking - it is situated at the top of the oven
