Wot's going on then??? I come back from my hols, where, for the last month I've been basking in temperatures of 35c to 40c and what do I find?

? It's bl***y freezing!!!

I expected spring - we even turned off the central heating when we went away and thought we'd be able to make do with just the woodburner...............boy were we wrong!!!!
Got back at 5pm today and I haven't taken my coat off yet!!

This winter has not been as bad as the traditional winter 1947 when the snow was 1.5 metres or 4.5 feet and stayed until round about now. 1963 was nearly as severe but the country was better organised than just after WWII. For future reference and a glimmer of hope next year - Candlemas 02 Feb is approx half way between the winter solstice and the spring equinox.

Still perishingly cold this morning - although it is sunny. My primulas,dwarf iris', camellias and daffs are all out, but that's about all!!! Will post some piccys of exotic blooms in a day or two ( when my fingers have unfrozen
