It was slow to load for me today, perhaps it is the 'volume' of internet traffic with so many of us 'snowed' in?

Proboards are currently investigating a slow loading problem affecting mainly UK based forums which might suggest a UK internet issue - maybe due to the weather - but as it is only late afternoon with them, (in sunny California) they will hopefully have time to resolve the issue whilst we are all in bed! i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd161/GWDAdmin1/Smilies/Default/wink.gif

Things have slowed up a bit when loading, I think there must be a lot of folk online.

We have been offline for a few minute and things are slow still and not loading properly. USA are aware of the issues and are looking into it.

I have not seen anything "official" from the Support board but as far as I can see things are fairly stable at the moment...

No - there is no need Jenny.
What the bot will be doing is trying to overload the servers...once they get their identity they can block it. It just slows the boards down completely...as the board is now up and running again I can only presume that they have got it and deleted it - or they have added servers to bring the power up again.

Hmmmm what's a bot. I've heard people talk about them but I don't really understand what they are.

Web Robots - "bots" are software that has been programmed to do certain things, not all are malicious. Often though they are programmed to attack servers and computers and take them over and /or gain information. They can reacts many times quicker than an human being is ever able to. Proboards does have a 15sec posting rule to hinder bots but I do know that some have been programmed to get around it.
When you register here at Proboards or most places you are asked to type in a Captcha code test at the end of the registration which differentiates between a bot and a human being.
