Yay again today, we got a new dog on Saturday, a 12 y o Jack Russell. Was on the way back from shopping with OH by bike, suggested we go "this way, for a change" and pulled up outside a house. Do you want to recycle a dog, I asked, A what, she said, so we went in, the old lady's hubby is in hospital, won't be returning home whatever happens. OH and I go out the back to meet and greet the dog. OH scratches said dog's neck, who lets out a satisfied and audible approving grunt. "yeah, we'll take him" and off we went. Phoned the lady Saturday evening to leave a message, dropped around to her today on a walk to say all is fine and dandy. She got the message, passed the good news on to the hubby, who was glad we have taken the dog. So, good news all round. He's still settling in, being referred to as "she" and "her" as we've had a female dog for so long. Kind of quiet, as he gets to know us and his surroundings. He won't lack for walks, anyway. regards, b.s.

That is such a lovely story BS. It looks as though he will be very happy with you and his previous owners can feel happy that he has gone to such a good home.

Oh, get in there, I'm surprised you've waited so long. You won't look back, apart from holiday dog sitting, escaping looks from others if you don't poop scoop, but it's all good.
Go for it cpb

heya gang, long time no hear....
well, turns out the dog was nearer to 16 than 12...and using the 'past tense' you'll have guessed the sad news.
I had to put him to sleep yesterday evening! I was thinking of Oscar Wilde when he said "to lose one parent might seem like careless, but to lose TWO..."
anyway, we are glad to have given him a happy and content last 18 months of his life. So, I am happy with that.
actually, my OH is away till next Monday, so it's a solo job of burying him! Wonder how she arranges that!!!
talk to you again, sooner, next time b.s.

heya,
thank yoall for your comments...much appreciated.
yeah, we did give him a good time. A happy time. He had lots of exercise, which I don't think he had so much of before!! His owner used to walk him to the 'local' and just sit in the conservatory/smoking area.
He was so overweight, that he looked a bit like a rhinocerous, and his bum looked cute and tiny!!!!
A few weeks with us got him in proportion!!! ha ha ha
we got him to run the odd time too!!!
looking back, he looks a bit nervous in those two pics, but he settled in very well.
all he wanted for the last four or five days was to sit on my lap. Very hard to get anything done, I have to say, but it was a pleasure. talk to you again soon C.
