I have been on the net searching for ages now as some of you may know I like to do a bit of companion planting but I cannot find anything about Parsnips or what can be planted with them, I know that you cannot plant them with Carrots but I have a lot of room in the Parsnip bed and wondered what would go with them please help.........thanks for any advice on this one.

I have found another chart Carolann .. www.ommas-aarden.net/comp_plant.htmThis says that you can plant them next to "Garlic, pea, pepper, potato" - their Allies are "onion, radish" and their enemies are "Caraway, carrot, celery"!! I found a couple of other sites and it seems that Parsnips don't have many enemies at all. RF

I saw this yesterday and asked my uncle who has an allotment and he always grows parsnips. He says that he normally plants them with onion, beans and potatoes

I dont have time to read the replies, because the computer may go down at any time. So apologies if someone has alread said this. They grow well with radishes, like lettuce and peas if not too shaded (all this according to Bob Flowerdew). I have had a quick browse of his Companion Gardening and he does not mention any dislike between carrots and parsnips, and last year I planted both together and had a good crop of each. jxx

Thanks Coccinelle for the advice, I have sown another row this afternoon and I am thinking of putting some salad crop in there.

Think of all those yummy roasted parsnips, I sow mine on damp compost and when they just shoot put them out, with a couple of rows of radish.
