Hello!! I've been offered some Brussel sprout plants but haven't space in the garden (surprise surprise!!) - would they grow in individual pots?

Hi Plocket, I think it would an awful lot of effort for a few sprouts. The pots would have to be pretty big and they would take quite a bit of watering, then they are top heavy and will be easily blown over - when they are in the ground and established they just get on with it

Mmmm you've said what I thought Jean, but thank you. As my friend doesn't want the plants though it would seem a waste to let them die. She's just getting into this gardening lark and thought she was buying broccoli seeds (don't ask me how she made the mistake but she did!!!). She hates sprouts but has agreed to continue growing a few of her seedlings for her husband. I might just give it a go and see how I get on - I'm sure I can cram a few more pots into the garden! ;D

Can you not fit them in the back of the border Plocket? They are tall and will be green when everything else has died down

Oh Tig bless, but you should know by now that there isn't an inch of spare soil in my garden I'm still going to give it a go Mowhay and see how I get on. All my veggies have to be grown in containers because I haven't any spare spare in my dinky little garden. Hang in there and see how yours do

Its always worth a go, and even if you don't get many sprouts the greens at the top are always tasty
