Tomatoes are looking good in the GH...just potted into their final 10 litre pots. Cues are a bit slower but doing ok. But i'm concerned whether the above crops actually need sunlight. My GH is sprayed with coolglass and gets no sun at all. It gets very hot and i damp down around the toms only (not the cues) should i remove some of the shading to allow a bit more light/sunlight in or is it ok. I think your Toms need some sun Andy to ripen them when they are big enough. If it was me i would let some sun in, mine is shaded one side but has sun most of the time. People do paint shade on there GH roofs if it gets full sun all day mine doesnt i thing it gets a happy balance.

Well that's what got me thinking about the ripening.
I think i shall brush some of it off.

Actually I think you should be ok with a Coolglass shaded GH Andy, at least as far as your toms go (I've never tried cucumbers). All the Coolglass is doing is reducing the ferocity of the sunlight whilst letting through the beneficial part (he said confidently i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd161/GWDAdmin1/Smilies/Default/wink.gif ). If you take too much of the Coolglass off you are running the risk of scorched leaves which could encourage disease so personally I would be inclined to leave it on.

I grow both these in the large GH which is perspex its not that clear and my Toms ripen allright I would leave the shade on. As for the dampening I just go down the sides with a watering can to wet the floor I also leave a couple of buckets of water at either end so that they can keep the humidity up during the day.
