I am proud to announce that last night, i ate the first bit of veg from the garden....an Iceberg lettuce, and it was devine. It wasn't fully grown but as i'd run out of shop bought lettuce, i thought i'd give it a go. Anyway, i washed the greenfly and slug poo off it and there was enough for 3 of us (4 big leaves each) so i was well pleased with that.

And when you pick stuff fresh from the garden it is much tastier than shop bought stuff!
Wait until you cook your own sweetcorn Andy, and pick your toms straight from the vines ... now that is a treat!!

Well done Andy, I'm eating lettuce and radishes from pots in the greenhouse and the toms have flowers on ( although, I'm ashamed to admit that, generally speaking, I can't tell any difference in taste between mine and the Co-op's ) but it is convenient ;D

Well done Andy, you're well smitten now. I've been eating lovely spicy salad leaves and other leaves that I've grown myself too, wonderful.

We've had a few radishes, strawberries, some lettuce that surprisingly sprouted from the bolted ones last year and green onions. Looks like the blueberries will be next to be ripe...it has been very hot here for the last 2 months already, very much the opposite from last years weather.

I've just had a salad for lunch using the first little Iceberg, I'm taking out every other one to make room for the others to grow. It's a bit of a rush in the morning though, picking & washing off the whitefly i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd161/GWDAdmin1/Smilies/Default/rolleyes.gif . Last night we had our first ever homegrown potatoes with freshly picked mint. Jillyx

My garden has been somewhat neglected this year for various reasons but we have had several feeds off the rhubarb, and the early sown Red Alert toms are now producing a fairly regular supply of cherry sized toms. My potatoes and beans were in late but things are looking fairly promising on that front in the next week or so. i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd161/GWDAdmin1/Smilies/Default/smiley.gif

Just as a comment on the flavour of things, i've found the spuds and carrots to be absolutely top notch.
