Oh my god...i've only gone and done it Sat in the garden last night talking to the OH about getting rid of the koi pond maybe next year and building a greenhouse in its place. Tonight, i've put all the koi up for sale, 10 are either sold or reserved already and when they've all gone, the fun begins, Basically, my pond is raised by block walling by 36" above ground. I intend to keep the walls, cut a hole in the front for the door and then make a wooden framed greenhouse with polycarb sheeting. I'll post designs and ideas as we go along but this will need to be self funding (money i raise from the pond will go towards greenhouse. It'll give me a 10' x 12' greenhouse and plenty of room for growing veg and ornamentals !!!! Life's never dull here ;D

Wow, that's a plan. You'll end up with a great sized greenhouse.

Good grief Andy you don't spill time to let an idea settle do you? Selling the Koi might see you off on a flying start towards getting the green house essentials ;D Watching this space from now on

Well the plans are drawn up. It will be a wooden frame which will sit on the existing 38" high walls and coping. This will give me the benefit of having a 9" stone window sill all the way round to grow plants on too.
I will still be growing my toms, cues, peppers etc in pots as this gives me more control over watering and feeding etc....the floor will all be concreted.
I will have a large bench....possibly in the middle which will hopefully incorporate a nice propagation area with undersoil heating and who knows...maybe a mist too.
It'll most probably be made out of 4mm polycarb sheeting with bubblewrap on the inside. I'll be having plenty of vents too....at least 4 in the roof and a few round the sides.
haven't thought about heating yet but it's possible i could use a 3KW oil filled rad like ive got in the conservatory.
If you have any suggestions, i'd love to hear them.
;D

Pond is now gone and i'm trying to fill up the "deep end" with hardcore and general rubbish. Probably won't do anything for a while now as what little cash i have is designated to other things (camping holiday in august, mrs wants lounge completely redecorated etc)
