I'm hoping to save seed from mine for the first time ever this year - one can but try I don't see why they shouldn't germinate OK, as long as the seed is ripe. x Tig

I wouldn't bank on that Pam!
They don't look anywhere near ready yet, and a bit of research has unearthed the fact that in their native homeland they are pollinated by ..... BATS!! Don't think that will have happened in my garden ;D

A friend of mine gave me a small plant that she'd grown from saved seeds and it's done beautifully ..... Oddly enough, the plant that she kept and planted up didn't succeed, i think sometimes that this being such a dry garden actually helps certain things, having its own micro climate is useful sometimes I have it growing on an obelisk near to Verbena bonariensis and V rigida, amomgst others.

How big are the seeds Pam? They need to be a fair size to germinate I believe Anyway, as it is going colder you can either try taking a long piece of stem with them, put it in water indoors and hope they continue to ripen, or put some fleece around the seedhead and a poly bag over it and hope the parent plant survives a bit longer. Think these are your best options - mine are not big enough to try and save at the moment. x Tig

Ah yes lovely. I might try again next year. My own garden has no space for it anymore but I could always grow one up the new pear tree support at Foliate. Or not. I have too many plans
