I keep seeing posts saying people have pulled all their beetroots out, mine aren't big enough yet, can I leave them in the ground still, or will they go rotten. Barbara...x

When did you sow yours Barbara? They seem to like a continous supply of water (rain is best and some warmth. If they get too old they can go woody. x Tig

At the start of the season I was lifting and cooking mine when they got to golf ball size Barbara. That looks grand to me. :)I've been sowing a succession (sp) of them and am leaving them a little bit longer now.

I pulled a couple more up today and they were about golf ball size too, I've cooked them already. Not many more from that crop to lift. I sowed some late seeds and they have a few leaves on them but I don't know if they'll get to edibile size with the cold weather coming.

No idea Barbara but why not - if you bung them straight in somewhere else they might not even know they have been moved !!!

I'm sure I've tried this before and it didn't work out, but what the hell, they'll only go in the compost otherwise.
