Zantedeschia Aethiopica (White) has anyone grown these from seeds please? My brother has just brought me a packet (20 seeds) it say sow on top of moist seed compost but not to cover the seed and keep at a temp of 70. My SIL wants to send some to a friend in Holland who cant get the bulbs or anything over there and guess where the seeds come from? yes Holland I told her to wait till next Spring when we could go and get the bulbs from the GC but she saw what she thought where bulbs from T&M I have sown the seeds and just wondered how long they will take before they flower as I have told them it could be years till they see a flower, thanks for any help and advice on this. Carol.

We have clumps of these around the garden, they grow like weeds here We often throw the seedheads and seedpods over the river into the ajoining field It is damp where they land and we have noticed that it takes 3 to 4 years before they bulk up and flower. They like it frost free and damp. Sorry I can't help more Ooh, it is easy to dig a bit of root off a clump and plant that - it flowers the following year

Thanks A, I shall pass the info onto my brother, I did tell him that they may have to be dug up each Winter up here as it will be too cold for them, I think SIL would be better off having them as a house plant, I have seen them in the GC up here in flower they where outside but under cover in the GC. They had a beautiful deep purple one which I would have liked but I said then that they where too tender for our outside climate.

I think the coloured ones are more tender than the white ones.
