To grow this year. Something you grew yourself and would thoroughly recommend to others....and of course, the reason why. Just name 2 things otherwise we'll end up with big long lists. 1) Tomato "Balconi" Grew this little cherry tomato outdoors last summer. The plants grew to about 10", were ideal in a 6" pot and produced an astounding amount of sweet, cherry tomatoes. Ideal for baskets, window boxes tubs etc etc. There's also a yellow variety which i shall be growing this year. www.thompson-morgan.com/dispatcher?search=Tomato++Balconi+Collection2) Dwarf French bean "Speedy" Not only is this bean delicious, it's also very small and quick harvesting. I grew about 14 plants in a 3 foot window box and they were awesome. I had beans 2 or 3 times a week for several months. The non climbing plants grew to about 10" high. Will definately be growing this one this year www.suttons.co.uk/Shop/Speedy+Veg+Seeds/Bean+-+Dwarf+French+Speedy+Seeds+185416.htm

Can I just do one?
Hunter squash. It needs room to grow but copes well with our rubbish weather. I didn't really have to do anything other than water and feed the plants. Each plant made about 8 squash and I made most of them into soup which was scrummy.

Beetroot Choggia smashine sweet taste absolutely delicious, I'll be growing them again this year. French bean, Blue Lake, they don't grow very tall, crop really well and smell and taste wonderful. I'll be hoping to grow them again this year although I have quite a few beans to try. i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd161/GWDAdmin1/Smilies/Default/cheesy.gif ;D

Ordered black cherry toms ;D
Carrot 'chantennay' are worth a go too if space is restricted. I sowed a few seeds in a large "plug" and then transplanted 3 plugs to their final pots without thinning the seedlings out. I pulled them out individually as they grew....allowing the smaller ones to remain and grow on and they were absolutely superb.
can anyone recommend a decent, "stringless" variety of runner bean ?

I would definitely recommend Marrow `Long Green Bush'. I grew and planted two on the lottie last year. The plants didn't get absolutely huge, and I lost count of the number of marrows I had. They cropped for quite a bit of time and were very tasty too.
Courgette `Black Beauty'. Again a heavy cropper, and very tasty too. Three plants gave me more than enough.
