Perhaps price rises are as slow to get down the pointy bit as goods ;D

Now, is George going to be mad enough to put 3p on a litre of fuel tomorrow? Last week I took my recorder club to a recorder festival and the poor taxi driver couldn't even bring himself to talk about the price of petrol

I hope not, where do they think we get all the extra money from.

Well, none of us GWD members will be saving any money if they lower the 50p tax rate I don't suppose! ;D

We saw (on one of the M6 services) that diesel was 154.9 Luckily we didn't need to fill up, but I'm sure that must've been a typo... I hope so anyway! It was the most expensive we saw whilst in Edinburgh/the lakes.

I made the mistake of going to a local BP garage today instead of Tescos because the traffic was heavy. The price per litre for unleaded was £1.41.9!!

Well, I know enough not to whine about our prices here!
Actually, we use the American gallon, you use liters. We pay in $, you pay in £. So every detail would have to be converted! Best I can figure, in our area we are paying less than half of what you are paying.
OUCH! My sympathies!

I can remember gas at under 1 dollar a gallon on our first trips to the US! That was also a time when the exchange rate was 2 dollars to a pound too!

Manic queues here for petrol and some garages are sold out already. What a pain and it'll probably come to nothing. The only saving grace is OH is an essential user if it comes to any striking.

What are they doing taht for, they have to give a weeks notice before going on strike, that's plenty of time for a panic. ;D

I've just had to queue for petrol as I was in the red, they are only allowing 30 litres per car, so some are probably driving round and round , and it's gone up to £1.40.

OH said they're doing the 30l limit thing in London. I was allowed as much as I wanted so I filled OH's car last night and mine very early this morning. I can't bear the thought of a re-run of 12 years ago. We lived in London then so didn't need our cars - we just walked or used the underground.

What I cant understand is if the army are on standby to deliver the fuel why is everyone panic buying? plus they have said they are not going to strike next weekend anyway so if they do strike then they are going to panic buy again in a couple of weeks.
|
|
|
Post by Jasmine on Mar 31, 2012 8:49:37 GMT
Quite - the Army are going to drive the tankers and the police are going to deal with any pickets who try to prevent deliveries coming in and out so what is the problem
