OH and I bought a dwarf cherry tree - well that is what it said on the label.... However I always thought that the blossom came before the leaves... I don't know much at all about fruit trees. Is this really a cherry tree?? Thanks. RF

I'm no expert but I seem to think the blossom comes before the leaves Is it an ornamental cherry or the edible sort

We also bought a dwarf plum and on the thingy it said that it would take 2/3 years to get fruit - is it the same with cherries perhaps??
On our minarette apple trees we had fruit the first year.

I don't think mine is dwarf but it looks just like yours RF (and Barbaras too) but the leaves aren't quite out as much as your trees - there is no sign of blossom.

I've been having a look round the neighbours trees, most of them have some leaves and not much blossom yet. My ornamental in the front garden has blossom forming but it also has some leaves out My plum is starting to show blossom for the first time, this is its third year x Tig

Isn't it odd that we've all had to check - I've never given a thought to whether blossom or leaves come first. Blossom comes first definitely on a peach though!

Erm nextdoors wild cherry has small leaves and buds. I never thought about this either. The offspring of a cherry which I planted in a cement mixing bucket has loads of buds but no leaves. Maybe one is supposed to stress the plant?
