Anyone who knows me will know that I have a bit of a thing for old varieties. With this in mind I would urge anyone who grows broad beans, to try the old variety Bunyards Exhibition.....just about time to get a late row in now. They've been around for more than 100 years.
I would remind you that with the potential to grow to 6ft tall, they need quite a lot of space. It produces lots of long pods, containing 8 or 9 seeds.

I've grown them and they never reached that height David! Think most years they never got beyond 4 ft, but that could be down to me chopping the tops off at the first sign of blackfly They were excellent croppers I have to say. I've tried Aquadulce this year. x Tig

I've tried Aquadulce this year. x Tig Like you, Tig, I've never grown them to 6ft. Alas, as I said, they do have the potential to grow that tall. I grow Aquadulce too, but only as autumn sowings.
