I was just having a chuckle to myself LG and thinking maybe it should have been a gentle breeze not a force 7 hurricane I was creating! ;D I'll go and check...

I think you might be right LG - nothing to do with breezes - they have all flopped this morning and are in full sunshine - I shall move them.

Perhaps they like it a bit cooler and shadier until they grow up a bit.

I'll try that - they are very tall and spindly though aren't they - almost like it would be hard to support themselves?

Yes Jasmine mine are the same, there's no way they could be transplanted yet, they're only just starting to make proper leaves too.

Is anyone still doing this?? I am in the sense that I have to shift all the trays of seedlings out of the bedroom at night and put them back in the morning and they tend to get "quite a breeze" !!
However my seedlings are so good this year due to the Perlite that I don't know if the "breeze" is helping or it is just the Perlite...

I was thinking about this yesterday RF...along with where did I put the stockings after Christmas last year and other important stuff!
I was going to have a go as soon as spring and seed sowing had sprung!

Only just noticed this. Monty Don also was on about this last year and I then decided to shake my toms or stroke them depending on my mood ;D Anyhow they were stronger than any I grew before. So this is part of my growing from seeds action from now on. I suppose that when you have a lot just pulling the leg of the bench they are all on, without letting it collaps, might do the trick. Have fun and RF erm.... real wind or artificial....... depends on what you had for dinner

I'm not brilliant at them Missy and last year next door's rabbit broke in and ate them all. I thought they were safe from the wild rabbits on the patio! ;D

We have more than a stiff breeze here, they would be blown out of the pots, and no it isn't because we had the sprouts. ;D

I was going to give this a try as soon as I can move some stuff out of the lobby. Then I was going to sow some cosmos in a tray in the lobby and a tray outside and see which one did best. Anyone else going to try or want some cosmos seeds to try with?

I've started my Cosmos off Jasmine and have been thinking of the breeze theory. I'm game to do some more 'tho and thought there was something about Cosmos a few weeks ago when I sowed them but did'nt remember the name of the thread. So, I'm game, I still have some left, not sure which variety they are but they are Cosmos and although they're old I have had germination already. ;D Hopefully some others will join in too.

I wish I had known shaking was good when I was working with the tomatoes. They did get a bit stronger once I put them in the patio in the breeze, but they were more spindly than I liked! Next year I will do a lot of shaking ... . I do have a massage chair in my office, so I could set them in it for a massage vibration every day! Or perhaps on the dryer during the spin!

A massage chair - that could be the answer! ;D

As I have been away I put my tom plants on the lounge windowsill - normally forbidden by OH - and the heating is the same as a gentle breeze - I just keep turning the trays around....
Wonder if it counts as well - just think - Bobbie is right - pop your plants on a massage chair and Hey Presto....
How's about a ceiling fan - would that work perhaps??

I wonder if it would be enough 'breeze' RF - or if you had to put your plants near enough would they be getting enough light

I have a ceiling fan with lights, but have a floor fan as well. I can see it now, heat is on and I'm running my fan for the baby plants.

Actually, I can do it in the sunroom without making my husband run for a sweater. . Since the ground fans oscillate, they might work, swinging back and forth.

I started thinking about this in the middle of the night when I woke and I have come to the conclusion that we gardeners are a separate race...we are seriously talking about wafting plants to see if they grow sturdier and better...
We are mad...mind you, I am happy to stay that way - let the wafting begin!!

Ahh, he's ok your OH RF. Anyone who sets up upside down lights so their OH's dahlias can get going quicker won't mind the idea of a fan to make things sturdier!
