I bought fireglow this year and it's done well but it's only 1 long stick thingy. I was reading up about propagation and it said to cut the tip a couple of inches and put it straight into cold water to stop the sap bleeding. It then said to take it out and let it dry for a couple of days before potting up. Well I did all that but it's just drooped and died. Anyone know a better way or should I try again. i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd161/GWDAdmin1/Smilies/Default/undecided.gif

I've never done a root cutting but I would be willing to give it a go. The thing is, this is a very young plant and won't have many roots, certainly not ones big enough to propagate from Amber.

My Fireglow was only 'one long stick thingy' in it's first year LG. It formed side shoots at the base this spring, but one died so I still ended up with only one flower spike - it is sprouting all round the base now - so they don't seem to take long to bush up a bit. Would have thought it was a bit late for a cutting now x Tig

Tig thanks for the advice. I'll be patient and hope mine forms little side shoots at the base next year.

No idea, sorry in fact I have never thought about propagating euphorbias, they just seem to pop up fully formed ;D

;D Mine was quite a small plug when i got it and I'm quite pleased at how it's grown but it was too young to flower. I'm hopefull now that more will grow beside it in springtime.

I'll have to wait until it flowers then to get some seed or until the plant gets bigger. Thanks Jasmine. I did divide my other Euphorbia, the red leaved one this year and as far as I know it's alive and kicking.

I do hope we get one Jasmine. Today it's pouring rain and dark and grey. Thats why I like white flowers in the garden, they show up well even on days like this.
