Apart from removing all the affected leaves I don't think there is Andy I've tried growing them and they always succumb to the damn rust - someone advised me to spray them whilst young with a systemic fungicide, but I never remember until it's too late - lovely tall flowers though, my senior neighbour has one self-seeded black flowering one which is about 11 foot tall! x Tig

I lost some of my hollyhocks last winter, and I replaced them with Alcalthaeas - they're crosses between Hollyhocks and Malvas, and they're supposed to be rust-resistant. So far, so good. i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd161/GWDAdmin1/Smilies/Default/smiley.gif I know there are only three on the market at the moment, A.Parkallee, A.Parkrondell and A. Parkfrieden. I managed to get the first two - here's photos for you. I'd like to get hold of the other one, too.

Thanks - maybe if I order it early I might! They do seem to be popular, but only sold by a few Nurseries atm.

I usually remove the bad leaves. Hi flower, - nice to see you again. I agree - I take the leaves off as well. Only trouble is that if the plant is really in a mess then there are only a few leaves left on the top of the plant...looks weird - lol !!

I have never seen that one before interesting shaped leaf but the flowers are not that different are they, I have started now removing rusty leaves already, I always blamed it on the industry we have around us its good to know it is normal.

I grow my Hollyhocks at the allotment where they have tons of room and air but they do still succumb to the rust. I just take the leaves off and let them do their thing. My peach coloured Halo Mix which I grew from seed is in it's 2nd or 3rd year and one of them is flowering at the moment. I'll get a pic next time I'm there.
