I bought a supermarket ready meal advertised as creamy chicken with potatoes and vegetables. What a mistake that was! If it was cream in there, it had a peculiar taste. The whole thing was quite disgusting. Having used half, I was going to throw the rest away, when I had a brainwave. I put some oil in a frying pan, added chilli, paprika, turmeric, garam masala and garlic, stirred it all in and turned the heat up high. I scraped the solid bits from the so called cream and chucked them in, then stirred as it sizzled. Simple! Avoided waste and turned a bland meal into something tasty (though quite hot!). i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd161/GWDAdmin1/Smilies/Default/smiley.gif

Well done for making something tasty from it Ronny. There is some real rubbish about these days and some folk buy it for quickness and cheapness its just as cheap and quick to make most meals and they are far tastier. Says she who hasn't cooked regularly for quit a few years ;D OH took over my chefs hat

Do you notice how lovely the photo of the meal is on the front cover of the packet and when cooked looks nothing like it
I rarely buy ready made meals as they are always a big disappointment - tiny slivers of chicken in the CHICKEN pies for eg

Chuckles, there's only me and my stepfather now. It doesn't always seem worth cooking anything special as he doesn't like spices, our tastes are different. I sometimes eat a ready meal even though I'm frowning a bit at the taste or quality. Silly really. One thing that does put me off completely is finding gristle in meat, or a pie or sausage, etc. I never go near another if that happens. Hey, Jenny, you're so right, and the meal always looks bigger. Some so called chicken pies are ridiculous. You might find the meat hiding behind a pea or (usually hard) carrot!

Have you got a slow cooker Rony - best buy ever
Pop stuff in around lunchtime and cooked ready for me when I get home from work
Best meal is a meat casserole with carrots to give it flavour and pop a couple dumplings on top so you dont need to worry about pots - SIMPLES ;D
You can always fire up a pan of veggies to go with it in a few mins

I've never been a lover of supermarket curries...they're drab, tasteless and horrible.
Until a few months ago when i bought a "Chinese curry" from Tesco which they have in those plastic containers you get from takeaways.
My god these are absolutely delish and we have one about once a week

Haven't used the slow cooker for ages, Jenny. Again, it's probably due to cooking for one. Stepdad only ever eats a tiny bit of meat anyway. Might get it out again though, will think about what I might do in it.
