For at least 6 years now we have been doing a sort of variation of the Hays Diet.... www.dieting-review.com/haydiet.htmI have only just googled and don't really know what is said on that website. However, for my OH and I the diet is ideal - we are never hungry, only hunger for special things... On this diet you cannot have carbohydrates with meat and veg so we stuff up on veg and salads - or we eat Carbos with eggs/salads/veg etc.. We eat bread/toast for breakfast (continental here) and eat a full meal at lunchtime and little or nor Carbo's for tea around 5/6 pm.. Saturday is what we call "our day" - we eat and drink what we want... actually the more you are into eating less one automatically eats less fatty things although my OH has a duck breast once a month...or Yorkies, etc etc... We don't call it a diet, just a matter of keeping in our clothes - we just eat roughly what the rules state and if we are good and have kept our weight we tend to ignore things for a while... However I do cut fat off meat (apart from crackling - that's my Sat. meal) and use reduced fat things apart from butter - my Doc said to stop messing about and just eat good butter and good produce and less of it...I do!! I just calorie count at the moment because that's the only way I know I'm consuming less than I'm using. When I was a postie, it didn't really matter what I ate because I was doing such physical work it just burned off. If I went on a diet, I'd have lost the weight no problem. Unfortunately, this head thing started suddenly and then the exercise stopped just as suddenly but my body didn't adjust as quickly. The weight piled on and then I couldn't shift it because I couldn't exercise.
I joined Slimming World and although I had a moderate success, it was really demoralising seeing people eating exactly the same as I was, but more of it and more chocolate etc and losing loads more weight in a shorter amount of time. Fair enough, some of them had a helluva lot more to lose... but it was really getting me down, and the more depressed I got, the harder the weight was to shift. I've now lost just under 2 stone in 10 months (which when I think about it like that seems like quite a lot actually!) and I want to lose another this year, which I'll do by just watching what I eat- but not fastidiously! ;D

I've substituted bread for Ryvita and don't put butter on them. I have stopped nibbling cheese when I grate any. For breakfast I'm eating stewed apple with non-fat yoghurt, and I'm about to start cooking porridge as a change.Thats a good idea....good for your colesterol. Try and get oat bran if you can...its good for the "digestive system"...I have it every morning with a good shake of cinnamon and a tsp of splenda

It'll have to be whatever I can get from Sainsbury's, Amber. We do our shopping on-line now. Do you get oat bran from a Health Shop?

I only eat once a day ( at 8pm) and I try to make that meal as fat free and sugar free as possible. During the day I just have copious amounts of coffee ( fat free milk ) weak tea ( ff milk) or fruit tea and possibly a pear or few grapes if I feel very hungry. Last night I had vegetable casserole with chick peas. I don't like cooking so the simpler the better for me If I'm busy I don't feel hungry at all - it's if I'm sitting around that I notice that I haven't eaten...........just writing this makes me want to eat ;D ;D I went to Slimming World to lose weight after my hip replacements and try to stick to their fat free/sugar free principles. It's wine that's my downfall, but I'm trying to be strong ;D ;D

I bought his book a few years ago to give them a try. Mainly to give myself a detox actually. I lasted 3.5 days because I was still cooking tea for the ex and I missed chewing lol
