Have any of us grown a Phormium from seed in a container and if so how long did it take to flower, this is mine which was sown with seeds from a well known garden overlooking Mevagissey in Cornwall, it's about 4 / 5 years old, any thoughts on if it will flower.

As we can't grow them here in Germany - well we can but they won't survive the winters, although I think they can do minus tempos on a short term basis...
I honestly haven't a clue when it will flower MH - I hope someone else has an idea - I find it marvellous that you have grow it from seed, well done...
Where do you leave it in winter??

It's been in the GH for the winters up to now but some people around me do have them in the garden and they do flower, they are considerably bigger than this one but I want to keep it contolled as the others are about 4 foot by 6 foot, don't want it that big, I had hoped maybe being pot bound would help ??

Well done on growing the phormium from seed Mowhay, I've tried twice with seeds that jumped into my pocket, but failed both times I think they can take up to 10 years to flower, do you refresh the compost each year and pot it on? x Tig

ThanksTig, I potted it on last year but haven't done anything to it yet this year, would you recommend refreshing some of the compost, at the moment I don't have a bigger pot and if I got one it wouldn't fit through the GH door for next winter, what do you think?

I'm no expert on them, lift it out and make sure the roots haven't filled the container and used the compost, if OK perhaps just give it a liquid feed every couple of months. It will outgrow that pot eventually though you could divide it into two pots ;D
