Is this an artichoke? I found it growing in the middle of a weed filled bed on the allotment.

I think so - not got any but when I was looking at some Aubergine plants I saw some...
Just think PDB - you have now got more than enough room for a couple!!

I've grown half a dozen from seed and they're still pretty small and don't look much like that. I've seen a few more around the allotments though, some huge things.
It's not really where I want it to be so I'll have to move it, but I'll keep it for now and see if it turns into something edible ;D I'll plant mine alongside it once I have a bed ready for them.

The first leaves are much more softer edged PDB, then the spikey leaves appear.

Well, it's in the middle of a huge bed, about 12ft x 30ft. I'm digging it over in stages and have one quarter done. The next bit will take me right up to it.
Anyone know how deep the roots go? I might have to temporarily pot it up unless I get the artichoke bed ready before I get to it.
