I have tried growing aloe vera but it always dies on me. The latest I have bought - and the last if this one dies - is still in a pot but the leaves are dying from the bottom up. It keeps growing new leaves at the top. Should I plant it in a larger pot, or in the ground? It is supposed to be frost hardy, but that has been my problem in the past. They are NOT frost hardy. Any suggestions? Or should I just dump it and concentrate on plants I can grow successfully? But I do like a challenge.

Not sure on that one FG but a friend of mine in New Zealand has one in a pot 8" and its been there for years and years she just ignores it but waters it when its dried out.

I keep one in the house for burns and cuts, sort of like a growing first aid plant Mine survives in a 4" pot, very gritty compost, only watered when bone dry and the leaves start to look a bit thin. In winter it has hardly any water at all. They are not hardy here. Mine has had babies this year and I've just potted them on. x Tig
