This lovely little plant grows on one of the plots at the allotment. I never see the owner so can't ask what it's called. It's perennial, has hairy straight leaves, grows about a foot tall at the most and has a succession of flowers almost daily on it. It's not at all invasive and seems to form a small clump over years. The seeds are a decent size and some fell into my hand when I passed by it late last summer. I only got one to germinate but before I let it grow any more I'd like to know what it is if anyone could help? i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd161/GWDAdmin1/Smilies/Default/undecided.gif

I've had a google and indeed it looks like Corn Cockle, thanks Jasmine, I'll keep it I think since it's not invasive and I think it's very pretty.

The bees will love it LG!
I was just sitting in the garden having a cup of tea and a smile about how the seeds fell into your hands!

It is indeed corn cockle or agrostemma. Got thousands on my chalk bank at work

I'm delighted to have a name for it. I read that it's an annual but at the allotment it grows in the exact same place every year, is it just self seeding then do you think?

Very pretty I thought it had a look of Vinca - I once accidentally pulled up a pretty little plant by the wayside and brought it home - turns out to be a sort of weed and now mine AND THE NEIGHBOURS garden is invested with it
