I'm not sure if we already have a thread like this but I could'nt see one. Anyhow, I thought with so many of us having Grandchildren or Children then a thread to record the funny things or just the out of the ordinary things they do or say might be fun. Jenny was telling me this morning that Aoife said to her that Hannah had lifted a bottle of Jenny's coke and taken it upstairs to put underneath her bed. This was punishment for Jenny for something that Hannah took umbridge to. It had been there for days but Aoife only found it this morning. I thought it was hilarious, Jenny would take the ipad off Hannah or a toy or a book as a form of punishment and she was doing just the same thing. Jenny will discuss it all with her after school to find out what it was that she did that Hannah did'nt like. Are'nt kids funny. It's hard to belive she's not yet 7.

I wonder what Jenny has done wrong Ladygardener! I have nothing funny to report - perhaps teenagers aren't supposed to be funny! Oh yes, school, now that's different! I was doing a dyslexia screening test with a little chap and he had to tell me a list of food and he said 'spillage' as one of his things. I asked him what 'spillage' was like and he said it was green and soggy so obviously he meant 'spinach'. He took some persuading that the correct word was 'spinach', we had a bit of a discussion about it with him insisting it was spillage!

I know, I'm hoping she'll have had time to talk it over with her before she comes up tonight Jasmine . It does'nt have to be funny you know it could be something that's driving you crazy too. I'm sure they're both studying hard at the moment anyhow. Poor little fella, children often get words mixed up and honestly, some peoples diction is so bad it's no wonder.

I think kiddie expressions are just cute! For years the boys both called squirrels 'squeals', it still makes me smile now. And BT used to negotiate more time, even as a little tiny chap, by putting up his pointy finger and saying 'minute'!!! You will share with us when you find out won't you Ladygardener! I've shared the driving me crazy bit elsewhere - I won't off load on your lovely, new thread!

Offload all you want Jasmine . I'm sure there will be lots of things to write on here over the months. Love how BT used to make you wait. Children pick up on the slightest thing and adopt it in their own way. Jenny says it was last week when she removed Hannah's book because she was being bold. Hannah snuck out to the kitchen and lifted the coke bottle to give Jenny a taste of her own medicine. lol. Jenny only drinks coke not tea or coffee so she knew where to hit to hurt her most. Thing was Jenny had another bottle in the fridge and did'nt notice. lol

Oh the power little Hannah must've felt! Even if she didn't know her Mummy had more! That was quite a bold move in itself...I'd have been in such trouble!

Yes honestly Jasmine, it's hard to believe she's not yet 7. She can stomp about like a fully fledged teenager at times.

My anecdote concerns a 6yr old too - 6 must be the new 13!! GD no 3 ( who may have 666 stamped on her forehead, or may just be "challengingly mischievous" ) hid my son's phone charger on Sunday. No amount of...persuasion, cajoling, or anything else would prompt her to give up its whwereabouts. He finally found it last night!! Gotta love 'em He texted this morning to apologise for not being in touch

My grandchildren are a pair of little buggers ! I frequently have to phone Beth to find out where they have hidden things when they have been round. Jake (8) is fascinated with Ronnie & Reggie and I caught him putting them on a Lego "skateboard" so they can go faster nanna !!! He also likes to have a poke about when they pull their heads in to see what they are doing in their houses grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr ! Constant supervision necessary x

I have one of those too - she is 5 (6 in August if she lives that long) and she is a proper little mrs. She can throw a teenage strop already. Stamping feet and banging doors, the works. It's funny, it's revenge for what her mum out me through when she was a teenager. Although goodness knows what she will be like when she does hit the teens!! Think I might emigrate !!! x

Auricula your Son must have been going crazy, good job he got it in the end. They sure know how to get you don't they.

Hubby is dyslexic and some of the things he comes out with cracks me up... "asparagus veins" was one. Don't get me started on some of the things my SIL says! Mum told me yesterday that when I was a kid I said that the letters on the temperature dial of her old mini were "Hot, cold and does the N (neutral) mean (k)nackered?" No idea where I got that word from...

My brother and sister in law were visiting last weekend and my SIL didn't fail to disappoint us with new words... "Hopingfully" and that something came back "with revenge" (not a vengeance!). Whilst watching BGT at my sister's house a few years ago, my SIL said of Amanda Holden's outfit "Who does she think she is? Madelaine Monroe?!", she "can't work these contractions" (contraptions) and the birds were "twerping"

The birds were twerping very early here! At Sports Day yesterday Reception were told not to stop at the tape. They get to the finish line and then don't cross it so someone else comes by and wins and as you can imagine that causes all sorts of trouble! So, they didn't stop at the tape, they ran through it and then kept running til they ran out of field with the stocker giver outers running after them shouting 'You can stop now!'

One of my reception children answered my question in a music lesson - 'Has anyone heard of Mozart'? She said 'Yes, he was in the bullrushes' When he was about 2+ and I was expecting my daughter, son bloomin' well knew I couldn't get him if he sat down...then one day, he poked his head through the railings on our open staircase and got stuck! I was horrified and thought I'd have to call the Fire Brigade, but somehow I lifted him up and he managed to escape. Oh, I could tell you some stories about him! Has he improved since then? Not a lot....lol.

GD and I were having a cup of tea this morning with a biscuit..I made the teas and she got 2 biscuits out of the tin...she said we had to share so she took a bite out of my biscuit and gave it to me..when I asked her to share and for a bite of hers she said...No Nanny, youve got your own one...she then proceeded to eat all hers.

A while ago I explained to Hannah and Aoife the whole story of Angleface Rose we've grown. Sometimes I wonder how much they're taking in. The other day I was taking photos in the garden and Aoife asked me why. I explained that I was going to put them on the board here. She then said "So they can all pick names for them ". Little darling.

I took GD to my schools fete on Saturday..I spent the grand total of £3.50......she spotted the bouncy castle when we arrived and spent ages on that then she had an ice cream then to the free adventure playground then back to the bouncy castle...I did manage to stop for a cuppa and a piece of cake that she ate but never saw any of the stalls...still she enjoyed herself, she fell asleep on the way home.

Oh Missredhead how funny that you did'nt get to see the plants at all. Better for your purse too 'tho. I remember us going to an open garden and apart from a quick look at the plants for sale, we never even got into the gardens. It was hot and sunny and we all had had enough by the time we'd eaten cake and drunk coffee and the kids had fruit.

We were sitting through a very long assembly yesterday and there were lots of children coming out and lots of cups and certificates and clapping and I had a little reception friend by my feet. He was very happy playing with 2 cm of rubber band so I left him fiddling as it was keeping him busy/happy. After a while he got fed up with his bit of rubber band and looked out of the high Victorian building windows and said loudly - Oh look, fluffy clouds! They were fluffy - what can you say! He made the teachers close by smile!

Indeed Ladygardener. And I do wonder what we're doing to our little summer born boys who don't want to be conforming indoors at 4 years old - they want to be out doing stuff!
