Is anyone watching the new-style programme this year? Two new judges and a new set-up with no small scale auditions. I don't think it works - it won't beat Strictly in the ratings, but there have been some good singers already along with the errr...not so good ones.

Yes I'm watching it Geranium although I miss Ant and Dec. I do like Caroline and Olly presenting 'tho, I always thought they were great on Xtra factor the ITV2 programme. As always the talent is good and of course they throw in a few whose own family and friends surely should have told them to stop. I think Cheryl is'nt coming across as lively as she used to and seems a bit fragile but Rita and Nick are adding a bit of new life to the show. Simon has'nt changed at all and says the same thing year after year but it would'nt be the same wihout him.

I agree, Ladygardener, Cheryl is so tiny a puff of wind would blow her away! I like Olly, too, and he makes a good pair with Caroline. Not too sure about Nick yet. Maybe he'll grow on me. Yes, Simon is err...Simon!

I definitely don't like Nick, Ladygardener, he seems 'wet'. There were a few surprises this weekend, weren't there. That fat girl with the long red hair for one! I was amazed when they put the camp hairdresser through - he couldn't sing.

Totally agree with you about the hairdresser, why on earth did they put him through! I guess they always have some kind of a joke act and he may not get through boot camp if there are others too. I'm not a fan of Nick either but I've only seen him since the show started. It'll be good to see what he's like as a mentor etc....

Yes, true. I don't listen to his radio show, Ladygardener, so I have no idea what sort of music he likes. I just think he's not right for TV.

I quite like Gospel Music Geranium. I know which judge has which group, do you? Do you want to know?

You know what, Ladygardener, I must be so out of touch with 'current' music - I disagreed with the judges' decisions many, many times last night. OH and I both thought some of the singers were rubbish, only to hear that they were 'stars' or had 'smashed it'.

Yes Geranium I felt exactly the same! Some of them were well out of key a lot of the time I thought. It'll get better from now on in 'tho with the 1st auditions being finished. I think the pannel is missing the humour of David Walliams.

Definitely - and I still can't take to Nick - I'd never heard of him until this series started. I thought that method of weeding out contestants was just plain cruel, didn't you, Ladygardener? Maybe the solos next week will be better. One girl stood out for me - a coffee coloured pretty girl with a lovely slim figure. Wish I could recall her name...one to watch.

It always does seem painful when I see people putting their heart into their music but still not getting through Geranium, it's a tough world they're getting into 'tho.

That's true, Ladygardener, so if they can't take criticism, they shouldn't have entered. That girl did get through and I still can't remember her name!

Don't worry about it Geranium, I'm really rubbish with peoples names, have been all my life and it's been a real pain at times. I even try to use association to remember at times, it helps a little but I think that at this stage of my life, I'm not going to worry about it any more. I did think that the Judges were a bit rude when they were talking about how some of them performed. I'd hate someone to speak about any of my Grandchildren like that. I know it has always been part of the show but it's one thing when they're weeding out the people who do have talent and can sing and those who should have stayed at home. These are all people that the judges themselves put through and anyone can have a bad day can't they.

I agree, Ladygardener, - and I do think it's a bit unfair to judge solely on the strength of a one-off performance, when the judges are aware of potential from previously. I may learn that girl's name in time... we will be seeing her again, after all.

The thing is Geranium, they don't really go on one performance if they really really like someone. The girl in the black skirt that they called back was called back. They do the chir thingy this weekend, now that I really don't like. I think they sing again and they either get a place on the chairs or they don't but even if they do get a chair, it can be taken off them if the judges like someone else better.

They've done that for a couple of years now, haven't they, Ladygardener, and I don't like it either.

Yes they have and I think it's really awful Geranium. The absolute worst thing in the whole show. To be given a chair and think you're safe and then have it taken off you must be dreadful for those poor singers.

There are always a lot of tears, Ladygardener, and I do wonder whether this nastiness has dropped their ratings. If we don't like it, other people are probably feeling the same.

You're right Geranium. The sooner they get on to the proper singing, and voting by the public, the better.

That should be in two weeks' time, I think, Ladygardener. Or is it three?

I'm not too sure Geranium.. We'll have to just see how it all pans out I think.

Two whole hours to do that awful chair thing, Ladygardener, so have we got three more weeks of it to choose the 6 out of the other groups? I wouldn't blame viewers who switch off.

So pleased the horrible chair thing is over and done with. I'm sure the producers could come up with something less cruel. It's noticeable that the viewing figures have dropped.

I hear that after they've been to judges houses and are whittled down again, they don't find out who has made it through to live shows until they're all back in the uk and on yet another show. It used to be they were told when they were at the judges houses, if they were getting though or not, now they have to wait even longer. I don't think it's fair, no wonder figures are dropping. I did'nt watch any of the episodes where they were allocating the chairs but I'll start watching again now they're going to judges houses.

Did you watch over the weekend, Ladygardener? Some of the judges' choices were a bit surprising, weren't they, but what do I know? Anyway, I was chuffed to see that the girl I picked out weeks ago - Keira - is in the final 12. I got that right! I just knew they'd choose the guy in the dress, didn't you?

Geranium, yes I thought all along he would be in the live shows. I did'nt watch the whole chair thing but started watching again this weekend. A lot of them have talent don't they. I thought Cheryl was very serious and almost sad looking. What do you think of Simon's hairy face. Perhaps he's trying to look like George Clooney.
