Better late than never, we usually have a thread to analyse the participants and comment on their worthyness, or otherwise Wonder who we'll be amused by, frustrated by, stunned by this year?? Here is this years line-up. Some I know others, well not a clue ... www.mirror.co.uk/tv/tv-news/strictly-come-dancing-2016-contestants-8685020My favourites at the outset will be Will Young, he always seems to try his best, Naga Munchetty comes across as a very competitive, motivated woman and Claudia Fragapane because she's a gymnast and they are usually flexible, fit, and used to learning routines. Let the fun begin ...

I suspect the lady from birds of a feather, Lesley Joseph, will be off first.

Oh I didn't spot his name, might be a tie for who goes first,

Thanks for opening the thread and for the link Tig. Strictly is a programme that I really love. I know some of the celebs but not all of them and I really like Lesley Joseph, she's 70 and still doing panto as well!

I've seen the pairings spoiler and it looks like it should be a really good series. I haven't heard of some of them and the new pros are a bit confusing too, but, we'll become familiar with them all soon and then our favourites can emerge. Apparently Claudia Fragapane is only 4'7 and Melvin Odoom is 5'5 I think Greg Rutherford is 6'2 and everyone else fits between. Good time of the year for BBC with the GBBO / SCD overlap

Some good pairings, although I reckon everyone knew Anton was going to get Lesley, he is good with more mature ladies though and it lets him off the hook a bit, the dances can be a bit more sedate They all seemed very keen, well apart from Ed Balls and even he had a good crack at the group dance but I think he is seriously lacking in any rhythm!

O I agree with you about Ed Balls Tig. I was pretty sure Anton and Lesley would be a pair. It was a really good upbeat fun show tonight and I'm looking forward to seeing the series start in 3 weeks time.

The Spanish guy looked a bit of alright.... I agree with you Tig ..Ed Balls doesnt look like he has any rhythm, I bet he starts with a ballroom number instead of Latin... 3 weeks and counting now....

The Spanish guy looked a bit of alright.... Apparently known as Gorka the Corker Missredhead, Look like a good bunch all round although I think Tameka might get on my nerves quite quickly. Robert Rinder appears to be a hoot I like Ed Balls and Louise Redknapp best as "personalities wot I know " but they both look a bit awkward atm. I can't wait for the series proper ( although I'll have to as I'm in France the first weekend )

That was bad timing Auricula....
I like Louise but she did look a bit awkward didn't she....I love Robert Robert..he makes me laugh on Judge Finder... I must say that Tameka will probably get on my nerves rather quickly too....I do like Will Young though...

OH and I thought it was quite easy this year to do a few pairings, especially with the dancers of less stature (the short ones!). The new male pro who isn't Gorka the Corker does look like he needed permission from school/his parents to be out! I agree about Tameka, you can be funny, and you can over-do it - she over-did it. I think Judge Rinder will be a hoot.

Looking forward to the series now I've seen the show on Saturday, some good pairings & I don't think there was anyone on there that I took an instant dislike too (must be a first). I agree that Tameka could get a little wearing, but given that she's partnered with Gorka, I'm hoping that she stays in for a good long time

I think Will young might be the first to go. That Anastasia is going to be a pain I think, I don't know Judge Rinder but he was very interested in his partners cleavage.

I'm not entirely sure that cleavage is quite up Judge Rinder's street Barbara, Ohh I like Anastasia, very tough lady & I can't see her taking and nonsense from Brendan.

I had to laugh at that comment about Judge Finder....I thought everyone knew that he is very happily married to his husband....

I guessed he was gay, just by his demeanour but he was having a good old nosey just the same.

They're all a right lively bunch this year that's for sure. I don't know quite a few of them but of course that's partly why I like the show and It Takes 2 on bbc2 every day at tea time where they're interviewed and you get to know them a bit better.

And tomorrow night! No voting so they can do their first dances without fear of leaving. Why is it I feel slightly guilty about wanting to see how Ed Balls performs? The bookies have cut Lesley Josephs odds of winning from 100/1 to 25/1 - so she must have been doing OK in training.

Nobody is going out this weekend Missy, the voting starts next week. I thought Robert Rinder was such a laugh, such enthusiasm and gay abandon I didn't think the judges scores were accurate, Greg Rutherford did not perform a great jive in my humble opinion. Thought Laura did well, and the sports presenter, is it Ore? Lesley J was so nervous!

Hmm, odd scores again from the judges. I thought Anastastia was over marked. As for Danny Mac - he was brill with his partner. Felt a bit sorry for Ed - he isn't going to last long methinks!

I agree with you about Ed Tig. Hannah and Aoife have their favourites already, A.J and Claudia I don't mind some props to set the scene but there was a lot of faffing around before dancing from some of the pairs. As is always the way, over and under marking from the word go. It was really enjoyable 'tho, great family entertainment for the weekends. I laughed at Robert Rinder, I don't know a good few of them this year him being one of them but he seems to have a dry sense of humour. Did anyone think Craig was in particularly good form, I loved the group waltz at the start of last night's show.

With the seniors and the children it made it a really family friendly intro I thought LG Yes, I too don't know half of the participants, I've never watched Judge Rinder, and several others were unknowns. Read in the paper today that Zoe Ball has split from Norman Cook, not surprised though as they have had a few issues in the past.

They really have had their issues Tig and they've fought through so much to stay together from what I've read. It's always difficult when couples break up. There's a right row going on regarding Judge, (Robert Rinder). I have to admit, not having known him I thought he really was a Judge but it seems not, he's a barrister. Don't think it matters one iota 'tho as he is actually introduced as "Star of Judge Rinder , Robert Rinder."

My guess is that Ed will be first out. He isn't popular like Anne Widdecombe was and he 'danced' like a plank.
