Awwww fankoo!!
She is gorgeous though. I love her as if she was my own child. That is so sad I know but as I don't have kids, she's the next nearest thing.
OK. I admit it. My name is April and I am a crazy cat lady.

Did I mention that I entered her into the Felix Factor competition?
I didn't realise it was actually a competition but they've contacted me back saying they're going to put the picture in front of the judges. Dunno how many are going forwards but it's quite good innit?!

I looked at the entry page again last night. Chance of winning a holiday, camera DVD thingy and a year's supply of Felix. That will be nice. For the cat obviously. I know this is going to sound silly but I'm not keen on going away, I miss the animals too much and worry about them lol

Schmickles has brought in 2 birdies in the last 12 hours!! The first one looked OK but died while I was holding it, probably from shock and the one this morning flew off but was bleeding Oh and we didn't win that competition btw. Some stupid kitten won it <tuts> it wasn't as good as Schmickle's photo <hmph> ;D

And another this morning... Was already dead by the time we got to it. A pigeon flew into our lounge window last night as well. It's not like we have another window opposite it so it thought it was flying thru so I dunno what went on there!

My mum is currently doing fostering for the Cats Protection League. She currently has a cat called Lucy who had 3 kittens. 1 had to be put to sleep because the roof of his mouth was missing so he was slowly starving to death and then they found another kitten from a different cat who had been abandoned so she now has 3 again. 2 tortoishell (who are female by default) one dark one white and then this other kitten who is black like Shadda. I soooo want him!! But I'm not allowed.

I'm all of a dither 'cos Cat has hurt her leg I noticed she was limping a little bit the day before yesterday, but on inspection I couldn't see anything other than a tiny scratch, with I bathed with warm saline solution, and yesterday she seemed a bit better. Today she has stayed on her cushion in the garage all day - when I went to check she had eaten no food so I carefully lifted her out and she can't put her paw down. Her leg is really warm and a bit swollen, but I can't see any inflamation. Rang the vets, couldn't take her tonight because they were booked up, and I haven't got a carrier. Going at 10am in the morning, mad dash to Argos tonight to buy a carrier, just hope I can get her in it tomorrow. She isn't crying or anything, but if she can't put it down it must be sore, hope it isn't fractured! Why did she want to live with us I shall be worrying about her all night now

Don't worry Tig. Dunno if you remember the photo I posted aaaaaaaaages ago of Shadda's paw when it was twice the size it should be? I think that was just a bee sting. Here's the pic It really didn't bother him though...

If any of my animals are poorly I am sick with worry myself - I go off my food - so I know how you are feeling - then they get better and all back to normal again and you think Phew what was all that about ;D Shadda was a lovely cat April

Thanks for the re-assurance, my other stray (Dennis) had a swollen paw and I bathed his and it was OK. But this little cat is soo fussy, not a good eater at the best of times, and although she is putting a brave face on it I think it could be something nasty (I have lost my optimism for some reason ) Just hope she stays in the garage on her cushion tonight and I can find her in the morning! I swore I would never have any more animals, nearly as worrying as children

Sounds like it's infected Tig. A good dose of antibiotics should do the trick. She ought to be as right as rain in a couple of days

What a nightmare, found her in the garage brought her indoors, managed to get her into carrier, squawked all the way to the vets in the car! Abscess! Vet shaved her leg and lanced it (YUK - loads of pus) - has given her painkilling and antibiotic injections, has to go back on Saturday and next Monday for two more doses (I can't get her to take tablets so at least I know she is getting a good dose). It will be fun trying to get her in the carrier again I'm sure Anyone got any virtual tranquillisers for me x Tig

Glad it's getting sorted. Told you not to worry.
I can't get mine to take pills either. Eric is easy enough to get them down him-just have to wrap them in cheese and then they don't even touch the sides. The cats, however, chew their food more than the dog so a tablet won't get anywhere near down...

Dogs? Daft and easy where medication is concerned. Cats?

It will cost me more to get her injected with them, but in the long term I am more worried that no infection comes back. She is soooo pleased with herself already, because I have let her stay in all day, leapt up and down to see that she was OK at every tiny meow, rubbed her tummy and tickled her under the chin on demand! Do you think she is milking the situation When she went out for a toilet break I spotted her jumping up onto the picnic table no bother, and she jumped onto the window sill to shout to come back inside on her cushion! She's not daft ;D

They injected Shadda-2 injections one was an antibiotic, the other was an antihistamine. He was sorted the next day and we were only told to bring him back if it didn't get better.

Once the painkillers wore off she was a bit whingey! There is still a bit of stuff coming out of the incision the vet made, but she sat on my lap tonight and gave me a wash I will keep a close eye on her tomorrow, and if the wound looks to be healing OK then another dose of antibiotics on Saturday may do. It is just such a relief, she has eaten more today than she has normally eaten in three days x Tig

Back in her favourite place in the sunshine this morning - she didn't want to come in the house so it might be a challenge getting her in the carrier again tomorrow!

Hi Tig - How's your cat now?? Hope she's better.
My new cat LJ has settled in well and my other cat Fred is used to him now as well and they've got to the sniffing each other's bits stage!
He gets around very quickly for a cat with three legs and noting fazes him - ho took a fancy to a pidgeon the other day and a butterfly today!
