I'm glad you've got good memories of your cats and that other stories make you smile. I will always miss my first cat but now have Poppy. And I'll miss her dreadfully when the time comes. She really is, as you say, a part of the family.
I haven't dared show it to LP yet but I've sent it to some of my "cat lover" friends who have loved it. I'm going to show it to LP at the weekend though and will report on her reaction!!!

You have all seen pics of Merlin, my grey cat, but here is Bo, who since yesterday has taken to sleeping (a lot) in a holdall that I left open in my lounge: He used to belong to two doors down, but moved in with Merlin and I instead. He has no tail and a permanent limp, both due to a car accident when he was a kitten.

He is. I did lift him out and put him on a cushion on the sofa. An hour later he was back in the bag. He has got up for his tea, but is now 'back in the bag'!.
We had a bit of drama here late this afternoon. At around 5pm I heard a squeal of brakes, a thud and a dog that kept barking and howling. Rushed outside and a labrador had been knocked down. It was under the car and in distress. We jacked the car up but couldn't get it out. Called fire brigade and an hour later it was out and a vet was in attendance.
It got away with a broken leg.
Got to know a couple of neighbours that I didn't know before.

I knelt beside the car and talked to the dog to try and reassure it while they were jacking the car up. When the fire brigade arrived I was on traffic control. When the police arrived they took over the traffic control and the dog was out by then. I spoke to the vet before he drove off with the dog.
The dog is at the vets for the night.

Oh poor dog, poor owners and poor you for having to witness it. I'm sure the dog needed your company and well done you for being there. He is so lucky only to have broken his leg. And how nice that you got to meet some of the neighbours. What an afternoon/evening for you.

Lots of questions here ...was the dog tagged? Where did they take him? Will they treat him or put him down? You see scarey stuff on tv you know, those ads about insuring your pet, saying a broken leg can cost thousands...... I never lost my dog once but always feared it, in case something happened to him, and always kept collar and tag in place, these days you can have them microchipped, but lots of pet rescue places cant afford the scanner that reads it. Sleepy, will you be able to find out what happens to the dog? Please?

Yes, yes, yes... <sighsmiley>
As if I would let it drop.
Went to visit the owner this afternoon. The dog is called Jake, and has a sister called Sissy. He has a shattered bone between the joints, but the joints are OK. So it is serious, but he will heal. Apparently he ran off from the owner when on a walk around the golf course (at the rear of my house). He is coming home this evening. He has been x-rayed and there are no other internal injuries, which was the vets concern. The owner has only been in the area 4 months and is moving to Symmons Yat in a months time. He is only renting where he is now to facilitate between moves.

Jake's dad came round with a bottle of wine as a thank you this evening. That was nice.
The owner has told me that the vet bills have exceeded £900 so far, with more to come!!!
