My friend has a chocolate brown 18 months old lab that she has to sadly re home - the housing she lives in with only accept one dog - dreadful situation as she has another much older lab
She is having to secretly keep him there until she finds a new home
He is toilet-trained and gets on with children
She lives Preston, Lancs
She has tried the Lab Rescue but dont know if, so far, she has been successful
Can anyone help?

God I'd love to but my house mate would have a fit because his cat would probably run off and although I don't think the landlord would mind, I don't think they'd be too keen either :-( Hope he finds a good loving home soon xxxx

I would love to have him - we used to have a labrador - the best breed IMO But we are trying to sell our house at the moment. We have to cats too - from past experience I have found it is better to introduce a kitten to a dog or a puppy to a cat. Has anyone researched whether he could work for the RAF or the Police?

A strange co incidence here Rita Storm is a very unusual name to call a dog but my friend didnt know that her uncle had just taken in an ex Police Dog who was also called Storm - he is an alsation and a lovely lovely dog How strange that two dogs were called Storm I will mention this to her she is very tearful about the situation and has three (or four) young children and has been very poorly recently too; in hospital for quite some time - she hasnt had much luck

What a distressing situation JW! I wish I could help. Has she tried putting up ads in her vet's and pet shops? The boarding kennels where my parents left their dogs at holiday time helped find them a home when my parents died. Storm is so handsome, he needs to get his photo out there and someone will fall in love with him!

I've only just seen this thread. I'll put out an enquiry with the Lions Clubs in that area.

I'm off to Spain for 2 weeks tomorrow but would be glad to adopt Storm if your friend is still stuck when we get back. We used to have a chocolate lab/springer cross called Bryn who was a rescued dog. He was fully grown when we had him and he lived with us for 12 years before he sadly passed on. The picture of Storm reminds me of him very much.
I'll be back on Oct 14th. Let me know if I can help.

That's wonderful Pg! What a generous offer! If Storm becomes yours you'll have to share him, he can be the GWD mascot and we can all send him Jumbones on his birthday!!!

Hi All I've emailed Jenny Wren's friend and will let you know what happens. Obviously, 2 weeks is a long time and he may well be re-homed before we get back from hols but we'll be happy to have him if not. Meanwhile - it's sun and sangria hopefully (I'm too old for the other "s") ;D

Please keep us informed. I vote PG wins the monthly compy for her kind-heartedness...AND JW for thinking of turning to the MB to rescue a mate's doggie...
I still miss my doggie....she died in 2004. I work quite long hours now so we have to make do with our pussycat Priya. (she more than adequately fills the gap)
bighugs for all CPB (ps have a good holiday PG...ooh we'll miss you, hurry back!)

I second cpb's suggestion, in fact I had the very same thought! There have been a lot of posts which have made me laugh but Pg's offer of adoption made me really happy!

Nothing to report yet on the doggy front. I have been in touch with Storm's owner's aunt via email and will be ringing her this evening on her mobile. It is possible that Storm has already been re-homed and that my help won't be necessary, I will know more later and will keep you all posted.

Update
Storm has been re-homed locally. However, the new owners have cats so will have to see how he settles in with them. If things don't work out, he may still come to us. We are just happy that he has gone to a good home. Hopefully, Jennywren will update us on his progress when she returns from holiday.

I went to see Storm on Saturday, after I flew back from Holland, and he is such a cutey and so happy - for someone that has just lost his Mummy he seems to be very at home with his new owners
However they have all decided to see how it goes over the next three weeks and then we may have to call on the kindness of PG
He still "looks" like a puppy and has chubby brown legs - I feel very sorry for the lady who had to give him up - she is very upset by the whole ordeal but so happy he has two good homes on offer

I just wanted to clarify that "seeing how it goes over the next three weeks" works both ways That is Storm may not like his new home, their cats, them etc etc At the moment he is lapping up all the attention as they are trying to make him feel at home; and it looks very positive HE isnt on probation, the new owners are As I have two dogs myself I know they can become the Boss of the household My life resolves, not complaining, around the needs and demands of my Afghan Hound jenny wrenn
