Hia! I just needed to tell someone... We got back from Christmas at my M&Ds today, and Poppy hasn't been in. She wasn't around when OH visited on Boxing Day, and hasn't touched the food he left for her. I've called and called for her, and OH has walked around the nearby roads and common land looking for her. I can't understand why she wouldn't be around because she can't see to go anywhere. We've been home since mid-morning and still haven't seen her. I can't help thinking the worst.

Oh Plocket, I do hope she comes back OK. Maybe she's been shut in somewhere over Christmas - in a neighbour's shed or something... My cat Bill often disappeared for several days at a time and would then appear. I do hope she comes back soon..X

I hope she does too 4P. She's never gone missing before and what worries me is that she doesn't ever leave our garden now that she's blind. I hate to say it but I'd rather find her for better or for worse rather than not know. I think most of our neighbours know her so if they do find her hopefully they will let me know.

Oh Plocket, how worrying. Have you tried all the neighbours? Someone might have taken her in. Animal shelters, Police, Vets? You never know. Please let us know whatever the outcome. I do hope she comes home, safe and well.

Oh Miss Plocket! I hope Poppy is safe and just shut in a garage or shed. One of our kitties, Paul, was missing for a week. We searched everywhere including the neighbours shed. After a week, the neighbours said they found Paul. He had fallen in a tall box and couldn't get out but he sure had enough strength to meow and howl for help! He was thinner but otherwise OK.
Best wishes for Poppy and her family!

Thank you everyone. To be honest I don't think we'll be seeing Poppy again - she never strayed, and never used to even leave our garden. She's blind and possibly wouldn't be able to find her way home if she was scared by something. I'm not usually a negative thinker but I know my cat. I will of course keep you posted, and thank you all for your thoughts

I hate to say it P but I think you might be right. I had the same thing with one of my cats. She was 14, went out one morning, was acting a bit funny and then just never came home.
It's just upsetting not knowing where they've gone to and worrying that something bad has happened.
I do hope you find her if only to know one way or the other xxxxxxxxxxxxx
We're soppy buggers aren't we?

We certainly are soppy but then I think most pet owners are We've checked all round the local roads and it doesn't look as though she's been hit by a car (I keep thinking of Shadda) so she must have gone quite some way if she wanted to curl up and go to sleep for the last time. She was 16 though. I miss her so much

I know you do P. I was going to say that that's what I think Jo did when she went out and never came back. I can't imagine she'd have been knocked over, I think she just went away from the "pack" to find somewhere to finally rest.
My thoughts are with you xxxxx

I've only just seen this so sorry for not replying before. While I DO hope Poppy comes back it does seem strange that she should roam, bearing in mind her age and "disability".
All I can say is I'm worrying with you Plocket and hope against hope everything turns out for the best.

You have a special place, Dear Lord that I know you’ll always keep, A special place reserved for kitties when they quietly fall asleep. With large and airy sunny rooms And a yard full of birdy tones, And maybe a little babbling creek that chatters over stones. With wide green fields and flowers for those who never knew, About running freely under Your sky of perfect blue. Lord, I know you keep this Special Place and so to you I pray, For one special little Poppy who passed quietly away. She was full of strength and love and so very, very wise. The kitten look that she once had, had long since left her eyes. She is dearly missed, my Lord by a very good friend of mine. She went to join her ancestors to your land that is divine. So, speak to her, softly please And give her a warm hello. She’s a special gift to you, Dear Lord from the family who loved her so.

Oh C3D you've made me cry. Thank you for that beautiful poem - I miss Poppy so much - I had her before OH and LP! I know I'll get used to her not being around but she's been a part of my life for 16 years, and I can't get used to her being gone - not yet anyway. I just wish I'd known that our last hug would be just that - I would have savoured it so much more.
