I do rather like a boat with a low yardarm, as it happens...

I know there's been a discussion about yardarm's before, but would you care to remind me what one is?

A nautical term, used to indicate time of day by the position of the sun relative to parts of a ship. I believe the yardarm is a beam supporting a square sail, hence would have had a certain height, giving a reference for the elevation of the sun.
Hope this helps, ps I am not of maritime stock ... a genuine landlubber !!!!

Oh yes! My dream house would be near the sea so I could hear it lapping on the beach (been there done that but not bought the house!!!) but sailing is just dreamy, in decent weather. The clanging of the rigging, the rocking of the boat - I love it!

I'm with Plocket! It's a while since I went in anything as little as a dinghy, but I used to go on the odd cruise for work and I love a good ferry! And I nearly died in a K1 canoe slalom race once...
