No. But I now have a Dranunculus vulgarum going wroomp and no space in the CF any more as it hits the lid. And no I do not have a GH. For now I put it in the shed but that heats up real fast in the morning I know the tip of the plant can get frost damage so it is not very hardy but does any one know how the leaves react to frost once they are out? In other words... can I leave it outside by now, even when we do get some night frost? See so many questions, Cheery, me, Rosefriend when she has to deal with the neighbours and how to explain exotics are not madness ;DMy Banana hasn't come through yet - do hope it is alive, it is in full view this year and I also have a Hedychium and a few other small "exotics" and my Colocasia Black Magic if it ever comes and 4 Fatsia's and I am getting looks about those. No-one has said anything yet but someone got off their bike the other day and stood looking at it for a while... Maybe another one for RF to try in deepest darkest germany ;D...pomegranites I've got a Pudica Andy - right waste if time it is too...I have had it 4 years this summer and it has never flowered yet.... Oooo what else have you got up your sleeve then... RF

;D You wish to attract more cyclists? My Dranunculus will, for at least one day, smell of dead meat. Wanna have a go?

Well, mine is definitely dead, I looked closely at it yesterday Funny thing is though, it is still rooted firmly in the ground - but what is above ground is all slimy and mushy!!! It'll have to come out

Mmmmh hold on Auricula mine is/was a bit mushy as well but I think it starts growing other bits when the middle dies or something like that.
I haven't watered mine much because it was so slimy but now I don't know what to do...

Obviously i can't say if it's dead or alive but it's quite usual for the top to go "all mushy". Musa basjoo is ROOT HARDY down to minus 20 and i found mine were quite late emerging last year. Don't dig them up just yet ;D

Thanks Andy - I just pulled another soggy mess out but as you say if it is Root Hardy to minus 20 I may still have a chance - we only had minus 15 this year and the tub was covered with fleece all the time.

Wow...that's impressive Andy. My melianthus major seedlings are still tiny...I don't think they'll be big enough to go into the garden for a loooooooooong time.

Well done Andy, I look forward to some piccies come summer when they are rewarding you for you efforts And of your melianthus majors when they get bigger Cheery ... whenever that is My one crepe ginger/costus speciosa seedling is still going, as are all the agave montanas and the two hesperaloe parvifloras. I have planted a rather large yucca (no idea which one) out today - it is / was a houseplant in the reduced bin - couldn't resist it ;D x Tig

When i used to grow them in the palm house at work Tig, they got no taller than 3 foot. just be a bit careful, they have some nasty spines on them.
Bought one of those large Alocasia today and a couple of the black leaved Colocasia. Also bought a Cleome which is something ive never grown before

I can see the spines Andy, mighty fierce they look too! 3 foot RF it is sort of splaying, if that makes sense? Like an open bowl, but I think I can see buds forming on the ends. If it is going to get as big as the ones Andy grew (although it is not in a palm house, just a bedroom) I'm not sure how I should tackle it Maybe a bigger pot? Where are you going to grow your new purchases Andy? Can they all go out?

Tig - these are only annual, so yes, a bigger pot - and I would feed them as well.
Splaying , - yes they do - can you make a sort of tripod or something - just to keep the shape a little perhaps.

Just a general purpose feed RF? I will find a bigger pot and see if I can construct something that doesn't look ugly

Personally I would use tom food as soon as you see a flower - they only last a year - make it a good one. As far as pot size ...mmmm I would go for 15 - 20 litres if you are adding that kind of fertilizer.
Perhaps Andy can help more?!!

I personally would just treat them as any other plants and feed weekly with miracle grow in the summer. as for pot size, In my experience they're not the most robust plants so i would've gone with a max of 10 litres....obviously progressing gradually through the sizes to avoid over potting.
haven't got a clue where im going to grow my new aquasitions yet Tig !!!! probably in the conservatory for a while but might put them out on the decking for the summer.
