RF Sometimes it just has to be done Rosefriend. At least if someone else has grown something, you get a better idea of what it's like. Pictures on packets or online are often very different than the real thing. That is, if you even get the real thing in the packet and not something else entirely.

RF It is really annoying Rosefriend, is it even one you like?. I have a Dahlia out that's nothing at all like what it should be. It should be a lovely wine colour and instead it's pink. I hope you do get your Seattle and it's the right one, it's a lovely Dahlia.

First time that I have seen that Ladygardener, - rather elegant isn't it....it is one of the big Clems - 4-6metres?? RF No Rosefriend, it only grows 2mtrs high and I'll be growing it in a pot. I got it as a tiny tiny plug plant, hardly more than a root and kept it out back for a while then put it outside. This is what Van Meuwen say about it. A rarely seen evergreen clematis, producing multitudes of nodding, waxy yellow blooms throughout summer. This highly sought after variety has unusual non-clinging stems. Tie them to supports to achieve a climbing effect, or allow them to spill from hanging baskets and patio containers. In borders it will happily scramble among mature shrubs, if provided with some winter protection and shelter from cold winds. Clematis repens 'Summer Beauty' requires minimal pruning making it particularly easy to maintain. Height: 2m (79"). Spread: 1m (39"). Pruning group: 1

Mahonia in the front, I gave it a really good haircut in the spring incase I damaged passers by, but it doesn't seem to have affected the flowering, it was covered in bees, but I didn't manage to catch any in the pics.

I'm waiting with bated breath to see if the ones I got from my Mum have survived another year too Rosefriend, she's got them everywhere, even growing in the lawn, but they never seem quite so enthusiastic for me & lord knows I've taken enough clumps in my time..... a few tough little souls do usually appear though.
