Hi scarecrow - I think it is Acanthus spinosus or better known as Spiny bear's breech !! apps.rhs.org.uk/plantselector/plant?plantid=16I had it in the garden years ago and for some reason lost it, if it is the same plant...it grows very tall if I remember rightly?? It looks lovely.. RF

Lovely, though, Tig. This is my new Hibiscus - it's called 'Purple Ruffles' but I think it's more maroon-y than purple. screenshot program windows

I saw this the other day when we were shopping Geranium... I thought the colour didn't quite match the name - perhaps as the plant gets older or later blooms?? RF

I don't mind if it stays the same, Rosefriend. I love the colour, even if it's a poorly chosen name! I spotted 'Lilac Ruffles' yesterday, and that was lovely too. I resisted it.

It's beautiful Geranium as is the new Hibiscus despite the misleading name.

Thanks, Ladygardener - the Campanula can be a bit of a thug, but it has space where it is, so I hope it does spread. I haven't planted the Hibiscus yet - I'm waiting for the Miraclegro flowers to go over - they still look pretty. It seems a shame to dig them all up, but I'll have to soon, as the new Cercis is also waiting to go in and I need to see the space I have to 'place' them. There's a lovely purple annual Salvia amongst them - I must see if I can get a photo. I wouldn't mind a packet of seeds if they're sold separately. Research is needed!

I love them too and would'nt bee without them now. I found this little beauty, Mrs N Thompson growing up the oblisk today. I'd missed it because the oblisk is full of sweetpea. It's purple / pink but I'm putting it here.

Dahlia Mystery Day, it's more burgundy than red as in the pic. I think this qualifies as purple too. Supposed to be Duet but there's no white in this the 1st pic.

I do love these colours Ladygardener but I do so wish that they wouldn't burn up so badly in high temperatures... Maybe the white in Duet will come later on?? RF

I think they're lovely this time of year Rosefriend, you can appreciate them more when they're the last ones, in high summer you just see the mass of purple & don't notice the pretty orange centres.

I was quite amazed for this time of year to see so much new growth - it is certainly a joy here in Germany to have things flowering for so long...thanks for the Nom..

These little Crocus are growing on a pot on the windowledge. The sun peeked out and they opened for a short time.
