Ooooh P that thalictrum is so pretty. Wasn't sure where to put this one it has a purple/pink tinge but turns more of a blue colour as it matures

I have been looking at all the beautiful purple flowers on this thread and thought I would post one. My camera is not as good for close ups of flowers, but I have tried to capture the beauty of one of my favourite roses "Rhapsody in Blue". PJ

Great pic, DG ... it's a bougainvillia. Gorgeous climber ever; the bracts also come in red, white and orange but the purple is most common (and loveliest IMO). Very tender ... cheers ...

By any chance would verbena be a relative of buddleia? The little florets look so similar.

Jennywren, thanks for your message about my rhapsody in blue. I paid quite of lot of money for it by mail order and I am terrified I'll kill it off. It is getting very leggy, but I am scared if I prne it too much, I'll be left with a dead rose bush. It has flowered well considering, I only got it this year, but we shall see how it goes. PJ

The butterflies and bees love the small clusters of flowers because they don't have to flit between them too much - all the pollen/flowers are close together
